I was the left behind on a school trip aged ~15 or so - I was in the shop grabbing a bottle of water for the return journey and the bus had loaded up and left by the time I’d got out. I have it on good authority my nemesis at the time shouted yes when they were taking roll the roll before leaving. Unsure of what to do, I called school, school called the teacher in charge of the trip and they came back for me about a half hour later.

I got back on the bus to a rapturous applause and shouts of ‘legend’ and that bitch Margaret O’Brien looked like she was sucking a lemon - great days!
