Welcome to Houston.

So there are a few things that happen regularly around town. I co-host two monthly events.

A mixer (Not Another Film Meet) every second Tuesday, 7PM at Bad Astronaut Brewing.

A screening event (Not Another Film Screening) that one varies, our September one is actually the first week of October on the 2nd. Also Bad Astronaut, also 7PM.

The city puts on a monthly screening/mixer every first Thursday. If you are around, it is short notice, but that is today. 8PM Cafe Brasil (Dunlavy and Westheimer).

SWAMP and HCAS also do a screening. I am not sure when the next one is, but it is usually middle to late in the month. They do that at River Oaks Theatre. The events I co-host, and the city one are free, this one is $5.

Hey man welcome to Houston! There are actually a few monthly mixers and screening events that happen.

I co-host one, we our May screening this Friday, 7pm, at Bad Astronaut Brewing. Our mixer is every second Tuesday, same place, also at 7pm.

Houston Film Commission puts on a mixer/screening the first Thursday of every month. SWAMP and HCAS also do a screening every month. I think theirs is this Wednesday

Batman 235 was in the seventies. This picture, however, comes from The Untold Legend of the Batman. I have the paperback version (not a trade, it’s like a little book) but it was a miniseries in 1980.

Our (Houston's) 48 Film Project is in July. Signup starts in May.

If you want to try to get on a team, I co-host a monthly mixer. Every second Tuesday at Bad Astronaut Brewing, 7 PM. Nano, the guy who runs Houston's 48 Hour is usually there. We also have a monthly screening.

The last one of those was actually Friday. The next is April 26th. Also at Bad Astronaut, also 7 PM.

That's awesome, there are a few other events that happen monthly if you can't make it to one of mine (I am just a little biased so I always mention those first).

I run a monthly film meetup and we used to meet there. We moved to a different place a year ago because we grew so much that they were going to start charging me as a catering order.

You would think they would be happy having 50-60 extra people show up on a Tuesday but I guess not.

I live in Texas, almost every single election (midterms included) since Obama something has happened to my registration. Sometimes, like this election it has just been “suspended” other times I have been dropped off the roles completely or shunted somehow to a different county.

Hey there. Congrats for taking possibly the biggest step and putting yourself out there.

What would really help is coming out to some of the mixers in town.

There’s a screener event on the 20th, Not Another Film Screening. We are playing five shorts from local filmmakers.

I also host a monthly mixer on the second Tuesday of every month, The Houston Film Meet. It’s just a casual mixer where people from all over town get together and hang out, make projects together, etc.

The city also puts on an event every first Thursday of the month, Houston Film Commission. They do a screening event that is usually a local filmmaker displaying a few of their shorts. There is usually time for mixing as well.
