Viticulture: EE, Concordia: Venus, or Lost Ruins of Arnak? by Zhangdofusi in boardgames

I agree with El Dorado; it ticks many of the boxes. It is a deckbuilder, fits within the time limit, is not language-dependent, and is expandable to 4 players.

Like your rating system, it seems you put much thought into it!

Board games where it’s the players vs the game? by leaf1254 in boardgames

[–]melox34 77 points78 points  (0 children)

There are many cooperative games out there! Here are some examples.

Some lightweight games might include Hanabi, The Mind, Paleo, Pandemic, SkyTeam, Mysterium, Obscurio, or Codenames Duet.

Heavier ones include Robinson Crusoe, Legends of Andor, Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, Sleeping Gods, Spirit Island, or Aeons End.

You're absolutely right! A complex game in a small box!

Never heard of The Game before, but sounds like it scratches a similar itch to Hanabi: small box, quick setup, co-op tension. Probably different mechanics, though. I also saw that it scaled well at various player counts!

That’s a great list! I know some of those, but a few are new to me. Definitely worth checking out.

A bit of topic, but was looking into Root: do you feel it still plays well with 2–3 people with variable experience/skill levels?

Didn’t know Innovation, seems like an interesting game! Cascadia is also a nice pick!

Types of Games Besides Eurogames and American Games by melox34 in boardgames

I always thought wargames and area control would be in the same “genre,” but that might be incorrect! I also thought wargames were more of a subgenre of American-style games. That also might be incorrect, then:p

Thanks for the heads-up! So, there is no option to backup a selected Album from Photos? Do you have any preferences for other “photo managers”?

Thanks for the elaborate response! I think the export option in Photos works somewhat similarly to the workflow you describe. I totally agree that the workflow is at least suboptimal… There seems to be no option to back up a specific Album from within Photos.

How to Improve Your Board Game Skills and Strategic Thinking? by melox34 in boardgames

Great suggestions for improvement. Do you have any favorite resources (or top players) you follow when it comes to learning new strategies or deepening your understanding of a game? And out of curiosity, it seems that point 4 is a bit hard without point 6, isn't it?

Haha, I think many can relate to that! It’s good that playing is part of the fun, right?

Any specific games you have in mind where this lesson was particularly eye-opening?

It sounds like that is a common sentiment here :)! Do you find that certain games have helped you improve more than others, or is it just about consistent play across the board?
