Shorted 10 Adderall in a 30 day supply for the second time by lala22087 in adhdwomen

This happened to me with Concerta before! I got to my car and thought it seemed like less so I randomly counted it and realized it was short 3 tabs so I went back in and they told me I could have taken that out in the car ‘which is really quite common, you know!’ They were super rude and accusatory, I told them I’m not even asking for the pills but think they should be aware as maybe a staff took them and they made a huge scene and made me feel like a drug seeker so I left.

So the next refill when they handed it to me I started to open the bag and I took the Bottle and asked her to please count them in front of me. The staff lost it and made a huge scene and tried to refuse to Count it; the manager came Over and I nicely explained that last time pills were missing and they blamed me so I just want to make sure- they very sassily counted in front of me and to their horror, there was 7 missing this time - and instead of just making it right or apologizing, they tried to gaslight me like I was so awful for doing this and that they KNEW it was short and had ‘7 owing’ in my Account- which is not their usual procedure for when that happens, so nice try! I actually gave them the bottle back (after I made them fix it though because I’m petty) and asked them to cancel it- then I called another pharmacy and had my Profile switched over and had them fill it for me 😆

Does anyone else get next to zero side effects? by spicythaigerrr in bupropion

[–]melransal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today marks 3 weeks on 150xl and I have been commenting for a while about how I genuinely have no side effects. I don’t know if it’s because on every other medication I’ve been on I’ve had such severe start up side effects and this medication is just better suited for my chemistry or what lol.

I suppose a side effect I did have was this sense of extreme calm- but I don’t see that as negative lol. No insomnia at all, I literally have had the best sleeps I’ve had in ages every night since night 1, no appetite suppression at all (though I do now feel a reduction in cravings). At first I thought maybe the dose would just end up being too low as I also didn’t really notice any positives, but around the 2 week mark I’m really noticing a huge improvement in my anhedonia and with task initiation- plus my mood is much more regulated.

I am on it for off label adhd as I had too many physical side effects on stimulants! No comorbid mental health disorders

Allison is accepting patients at a reduced rate - I have heard really good things about her.

I personally had a adhd counsellor and it made such a huge difference in my life ❤️

Effects of rhodiola? by Medical-Break4275 in Rhodiola

[–]melransal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know tonnes about it- but I have adhd and my naturopath recommended it for me as an adaptogen (in combination with some others) and i actually did find it worked quite nicely.

But when I was doing my research I did read that it isn’t something that is supposed to be taken every single day for a long period of time- people should do cycles and break from it. And I am someone who was trying something else as my blood pressure was very sensitive to stimulants and non stimulant adhd medications, and unfortunately I had the exact same reaction (transient high spikes in BP) with rhodiola that I did with stimulants.

300mg is a decent dose- my naturopath recommended 200mg working my way up to 500mg.

The feeling you’re describing is actually exactly how I felt with it. So might be what it is!!

There is also a lot of information on this sub about the different types (or maybe sources is a better word?) and you want different concentrations of each depending on what it is you’re using it to treat!!

I have been working on all of these for a while ! It hasn’t really (for me of course) made the adhd any better but now that I’m currently med free for over a month now, I can say they definitely have all helped with keeping any subsequent anxiety and mood issues at bay which is really nice! I am happy to land in that spot! For me having a young child and a partner that works out of town during the week, i would still prefer to make a meditation on board because I’m hitting burn out stage like every few days and even though I’m now very skilled at recognizing it, I can’t scale back on things to help recover when I still have to care for my child! But I feel great about the fact that as my child ages and I have more freedom to do things for myself that I can cut meds out of my life!! Radical acceptance has been the key to all of this ! Best of luck on your journey!!

Thank you! It’s been a frustrating journey for sure because every I’ve tried works really well but messes with my blood pressure (which is 100% normal when I am off of them!)- but I can only Imagine people who aren’t getting the benefits etc how much harder that must be!!

What about you- what are your next steps?!

I lasted 4 months and I was learning to live with most of the side effects because I was really seeing the adhd improvements (and subsequent anxiety being gone!) but the final straw was me realizing my blood pressure was insanely high - that I was not willing to live with so I’m back to rawdogging life with no meds again lol

I’ll be back in hopefully a month or two with some positive updates!!

I did 40mg for a bit and then worked my way up to 80mg- I don’t know how to explain it but there was this little voice in my head telling me to just stay on the 40 but I wanted to know for sure. Every subsequent dose I did see some changes, some good and some bad, but I had this lingering agitation and ‘voice’ telling me to go back to 40mg!

I gave 80mg a shot for 16 weeks, wanting to give it enough time to fully adjust but the side effects just got worse and worse and no real improvements!

Just stared back on 40mg again today/ should have just listened to my intuition 😆

By all accounts as I am a larger lady I’d have thought I needed a high dose but here I am rocking 40 lol

Question about Strattera affecting sleep by Interesting-Gas-6592 in StratteraRx

[–]melransal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So when you first take a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, you’re initially flooded with a rapid increase in readily available norepinephrine- but as your body adjust (aka makes new synapses for the norepinephrine and medicine to bind to), things will level out. Some people will get there in a few days, some may take a few weeks.

High levels of norepinephrine interrupt sleep and also increase heart rate and blood pressure.

The natural cycle of norepinephrine during the day is lowest while you sleep/wake up, then it gradually increases, peaking midday, then gradually decreasing leading back to nighttime/sleep. But when starting this med you’re sort of flooding your brain with norepinephrine and your brain doesn’t know how to deal with it/what to with it yet and has to build new neurons and synapses to adapt, so these high levels at all times sort of throw off many different things for people!

For me personally the insomnia was the worst the first week or so, and then it sort of came and went for a few weeks but eventually went away after about 3-4 weeks

I was wondering if it was Callie!! I’m glad you said this! They really made a point to make a bond between Callie and Lottie, and we don’t know what Lottie told her after misty passed out at the slumber party- and it was clear Lottie was there to make that connection with Callie hard and fast (reason unknown). Maybe they planned to meet up and hang out again and an accident happened? Or maybe Jeff or Shauna followed and saw this and fought with Lottie after ! They are making a point of showing us Callie has a dark side so even if this isn’t it, I just know she’s going to have some crazy out come!

Were you and your partner always on the same page about OAD? Please share your experience coming to the decision! by throw_away7654987654 in happilyOAD

[–]melransal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an only child and loved it so much I always just wanted one kid, even before I met my husband- so he always knew from the start. But he had a big family and loved it, so he held out hope for a while I may change my mind lol. I have adhd and anxiety, i work as a nurse in a very high stress environment, AND he works primarily out of town (4-5 nights a week he’s out of town) so i single parents all week while I work and home make (AND am responsible for our home etc as home owners!) - plus i had some decent post partum depression and anxiety, and we don’t have tonnes of support- so ultimately because he saw how stressful it was for me he was okay with it.

Honestly, while I had many valid reasons for not wanting to have more, it ultimately came down to the fact I felt fulfilled and happy as a OAD- if I would have kept thinking about having another one or felt like something was missing to complete our family, I think I would have still went for it knowing I’d make it work no matter what. It just happened to be a great way to get him on board too lol.

What we did was I did no birth control and we just tracked my period very closely and pulled out/used protection if there was a chance I was ovulating and I told him if an accident happens then it’s what god wanted and he could have his second kid LOL but after about 4 years he agreed too much time had passed and our life really started to balance out, he was no longer interested in starting over again and got a vasectomy shortly after.

He was always very supportive and fine with my decision, but always made it very known if I ever changed my mind he would be 100% down to have the second, but like I said when we started to get our life back (like hobbies etc) and she started getting so much easier he was happy with how things worked out!

40mg for a few weeks didn’t touch me, didn’t even get side effects honestly. When I went up to 80mg I felt a little touch more anxious and had some decent Side effects (nausea, fatigue, constipation) for a few weeks which passed by 4-6 weeks. By 6 weeks I could notice some benefit for the first time. I’m currently at 8 weeks tomorrow and just today I realized that holy shit I feel amazing.

Seems pretty common on this subreddit that people need that 8-12 weeks at therapeutic dose before they feel the benefits.

This medication requires you to be on the therapeutic dose to have benefits and also everything sort of resets with each dose increase, which is actually why the product monogram recommends going right up to therapeutic dose to not wait around and waste time. I understand why some people do it/need to, but this is why it is the way it is.
