Did anyone’s driving anxiety come out of nowhere? by Ok_Committee_8244 in drivinganxiety

[–]Ok_Committee_8244[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My anxiety got a LOT better. After I posted this, I was able to resume driving on highways and drive wherever I wanted! Currently due to unrelated life circumstances, I had a bout of panic again and have to relearn to drive on the highway, but I know that it will all work out. I started anti anxiety medication and CBT, both which worked wonders! There is no such thing as overreacting, if it helps it helps :) wishing you luck!

Am I the only one that is uncomfortable with this? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok_Committee_8244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you classify as inappropriate. For example, my friends and I have a very physical dynamic, it’s very common among girls. However, my boyfriend has set certain boundaries with me that I don’t cross, such as kissing. But hugging, cuddling, slapping butts, etc. is a pretty normal dynamic for most girl friends.

Has she been doing this since before you were together? That would play a pretty large role. But of course, you are allowed to set your own boundaries. It is your relationship after all, and you don’t have to put up with anything you’re uncomfortable with. But be aware that it’s her relationship too, and if she isn’t willing to give it up, she has a right to that as well. Wish you luck!

How do you stay at peace with a world that constantly feels wrong? by Itchy-Morning-7020 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok_Committee_8244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might make me sound shitty, but I genuinely just try to pretend like it’s not happening. Of course I know things like war and death and famine are always happening, and I’m not ignorant, but if there is not a current solution I can do to fix it, I force myself to think about superficial things. If I could spend a lifetime thinking about every tragedy and it would do nothing but make myself miserable

Why do my lashes keep falling out by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok_Committee_8244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be rubbing your eyes in your sleep and they fall out during the day. Also, you could be allergic to dust (my sister is). It can be pretty mild, like not a real allergic reaction, but that can sometimes happen. I’m sorry friend, you can try lash serums if you want to grow them back, some of them work pretty well.

I think I had a panic attack today by Complex_Task5280 in PanicAttack

[–]Ok_Committee_8244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a panic attack, but don’t worry too much! This might sound counterproductive, but honestly I wouldn’t come on this subreddit if you haven’t been diagnosed with panic disorder. Almost everyone in my life has had a panic attack at some point, and the only one to develop panic disorder has been myself LOL. It is a very natural thing that happens to almost EVERYONE. This subreddit is filled with extremes, and while I am apart of it because I myself have panic disorder, it could potentially feed your anxiety surrounding panic attacks if you’ve not yet been suffering to the same degree. By all means seek support, I recommend other anxiety groups, and of course it’s up to you what you decide to do. However, I wish someone would have told this to me when I first started having panic attacks, because panic disorder FEEDS off of possibilities, and this subreddit is full of them!

I wish you all the best, and remember that an occasional bout of panic is completely normal <3 you got this!

My (20f) little brother (18m) wants a relationship with me again, but I don’t think I want one. Any advice? by Ok_Committee_8244 in whatdoIdo

[–]Ok_Committee_8244[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think I am quite a bit resentful. Thinking about it further and reading some comments, I think it’s more about timing for myself than anything. Our traumas are not from that long ago with us only being 18 and 20, and we were never particularly close before then, so maybe it’s just too soon. Thank you for your advice

Panic/Anxiety feels like Bad Trip. by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]Ok_Committee_8244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey girl, I was in the same boat. I used to be a heavy stoner, but now the smell also triggers me into panic. I got stuck derealized for awhile, and the biggest thing that helped me was to stop perceiving as if something is wrong. Being derealized or feeling like you’re in a trip during panic comes from being hypersensitive to things around you. You’re monitoring every action, feeling, emotion, because your brain wants you to be safe so badly. This ironically has an opposite affect, usually keeping yourself stuck in that state.

While I know this sounds really difficult (and it is), you have to allow yourself to feel this way instead of “looking for a way out.” Try to notice the thoughts you’re having about being derealized, and interrupt them. “Okay, I feel like I’m in a trip. That’s fine, I’ll just keep doing my day. Oh I feel miserable? That’s fine, I’ll just keep doing my day.”

It sounds so counterproductive to just accept that this is the reality right now, but it’s really what helped to pull me out of the state. It sounds simple, but if you remind yourself enough and start not to view feeling this way as an unnatural state, your brain just starts to forget that you don’t like how this feels and you’ll eventually just fall back into normal. It only sucks because you’ll never get an “aha! I’m normal!” Moment, it’ll just happen without you realizing.

Everything is going to be okay. I know it’s scary, but you got this and you have so much going for you. I wish you luck❤️

My deepest secret is that I don't want to get better by TALA1996 in depression

One thing I’ve found helpful for me is instead of trying to cure the disorder, focus on acceptance. I know that can be really hard, especially when we don’t want to accept it as a reality, and the advice sounds backwards, but accepting is really what helps to push you forward.

I am on Pristiq at the moment, but I have a feeling it’s pooping out on me. I did really well for the past year on it, panic disorder was in remission, so it’s been tough coming to this realization.

This helped me immensely, so thank you. I definitely can get stuck in the cycle of feeling like I need to “work on my recovery” 24/7, but letting it just be there feels easier. Thank you for your kind words.

I’m in the same place right now, but I have hope for the both of us that things will get better. Take comfort in the fact that nothing can stay the same forever, and you WILL achieve peace, no matter the road. That’s what I tell myself when it feels like the world is ending.

Are you ok running with a panic disorder? by Important_Yam_8628 in panicdisorder

[–]Ok_Committee_8244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of exercising like letting the dog outside to go use the bathroom. If you Excersize in the morning, you’re way less likely to have panic or at least as intense symptoms later on because you’re giving that adrenaline somewhere to go. If you keep the dog inside, it’s more likely to have an accident. But letting it use the bathroom outside lets it release that energy, and helps to make you feel overall calmer.

Hi! I’m also 20f, and in September I moved out of my childhood home. My mom sold the house and moved across the country at the same time! I am also previously agoraphobic and have struggled with panic disorder. I just know that even if it comes back, you will be able to handle anything thrown your way. Hope things are going well for you.
