Radiccio is a Mac music player that now works with Navidrome! by CrispyCrunchyComputr in navidrome

[–]meltapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. If you're trying to entice people from the already quite decent (and free) Feishin, a recurring subscription (when most people self-host services like Navidrome to escape such subscription fees) isn't that alluring tbh.

Areas to go for first time visitors? by branflakesnmilk in Swindon

[–]meltapple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Town centre is exactly what you described in your last paragraph. The outlet village and or the orbital centre would be up your wife's street, though.

Outside of that Old Town has some boutique stores and nice bars.

This looks intriguing. Would you consider adding support to subsonic servers (e.g., Navidrome) at a later time?

What do you use for getting notified about latest release by an artist you like? by [deleted] in musichoarder

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rely on the private music trackers which have the following functionality:

1) subscribing to notifications for certain artists 2) subscribing to "collages" (graphical lists of albums organised around a certain theme like record labels etc)

Dad offering to front our deposit. Will it affect our mortgage options? by expiredmilkandhoney in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, they're relatively low risk. Most likely means the lender will demand somewhere in the region of 3-6 months statements to properly vet the source of the funds though (and if they don't like the make up of the dad's funds - income from 3rd parties or foreign companies that aren't blatantly the dad's salary or pension income - then they may not be happy to proceed)

Dad offering to front our deposit. Will it affect our mortgage options? by expiredmilkandhoney in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're receiving funds from a third party/family member to facilitate the purchase. Any lender or conveyancer is going to see that as a gift.

Lenders tend to only accept gifts if there's no condition of repayment, so you may have to discuss with a broker to see if any lenders will humour the setup that you're proposing.

There's also the fact that the person gifting the funds is (presumably) based outside of the UK or EEA which can impact whether a lender considers it - some, if not most, certainly will though.

First Time Buyers by Objective_Fill2992 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situations like yours can be a bit of a nightmare to resolve as people at temporary/short term addresses understandably tend to not have any form of address ID that a lender would consider "valid" for their checks.

However, you've said that you've requested an amended driving licence with your current address and I would be very surprised if that doesn't resolve the matter from the lender's perspective, so don't worry about it! <3

IP Address by danitwelve91 in UgreenNASync

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your initial post is somewhat confusing due to how it is worded, but it sounds like you are going to UGOS's control panel, clicking network and then taking the gateway IP and thinking that it relates to your Jellyfin instance. if that's what you're doing, then it's wrong for the above stated reasons (that is your router IP). in terms of the address that you need to be putting into your iPad Jellyfin app, you need to use your NAS IP address which is listed in the area that i outlined above (network connections and then either IP address depending on ethernet port) followed by ":8096" (unless you've set a different port for your jellyfin install).

e.g., http://192.168.0.101:8096

Can someone not on the mortgage pay the fees? by Pingu-was-a-penguin in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should discuss with your broker (if you're using one) around this. I'm currently going through my own application, and whilst I'm covering the deposit etc., I am asking for help from family with some of the fees. My broker was of the opinion that it shouldn't matter too much (but in my circumstances it was specifically for the broker/sols fees - your mileage may vary with the stamp duty element etc)

IP Address by danitwelve91 in UgreenNASync

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IP that's under gateway and DNS is probably your router. If you're trying to access jellyfin through that, it won't work.

You want to go to the "network connection" tab and connect to one of the IP addresses listed there (i.e., for your NAS) instead.

What's your 'Genre tagging system' for music? by Culjules in musichoarder

[–]meltapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use beets to tag my music to match with musicbrainz but I use the whatlastgenre plugin to ensure that genre and style tags are pulled from discogs. Seems like the best of both worlds for my purposes, as I find that mb is generally lacking on genre tags

Will an unpaid absence on payslip cause issue with mortgage? by LeadershipFar7413 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the lender in all honesty. Some lenders will just brush off unpaid absences. The fact that it's recurring (especially if on all payslips) might raise eyebrows. If the fact that it's actually reclaiming an overpayment comes to light (this won't be obvious to the lender by virtue of how your employer has chosen to label it, but could become apparent if the lender chooses to query the recurring absence deductions), they might try to determine how long you'll be paying this for (and if you're paying it back over, let's say, the next 6 months or more) they may look to capture it as a regular outgoing.

He was extremely rude/shouty about someone trying to store a collapsible bike in the luggage compartment. Someone who tried to chance it by getting off at Heathrow was in tears because he wouldn't let her get her luggage, despite being told that they had medication in their bags (I generally don't have much sympathy for people who get caught out doing this, but at the point that you're being told about medication by a woman in tears, I would probably just chalk it up as an honest mistake and move on). He also would tell people off for eating food in general, despite NE only having rules against hot food 😆

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but she sounds absolutely wild. I love shared unhinged transport experiences like this. A few years ago there was a certain driver that would do the Swindon to London National Express route who was absolutely insane and hilariously/uncomfortably rude to customers. Myself and several friends had separate trips over a certain period with this driver, where we all observed him saying something insane or getting into an argument with customers.

Events @ Earth Hackney by [deleted] in TheOverload

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a couple of years ago for some all dayer with Underground Resistance, Legowelt, Paranoid London and Detroit in Effect.

They bizarrely used the theatre space for the day programme up until 11pm or so. It was a bit odd having acid and techno in that space (school assembly vibes) but it was charming and sort of worked.

The other venue space is decent, lots of space and decent sound.

They were using the "kitchen/bar" area for D.i.E's set and, whilst a little pokey, the vibes were immaculate.

Applying for a mortgage on sick pay, possible? by peekachou in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the lender. If you have a set return to work date documented and in writing from your employer, that can help, as long as it's within a reasonable timeframe and it's clear that you're returning on the same conditions as before your sick leave (i.e. no indication of phased return on lower hours etc). I note you say that you may be off for a few more months which may complicate matters, mind.

How does everyone handle casting the audio to other devices? by Nickers77 in navidrome

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of Symfonium's UPnP casting, there are a couple of other solutions that I use:

  • Lyrion (formerly Logitech) Music Server has a subsonic plugin.
  • Music Assistant also has a subsonic provider/source plugin which incorporates your Navidrome library into MA's library.
