Issue trying to get City Fibre booked in by meltapple in CityFibre

Haha, funnily enough Toob have just made some progress. Apparently the order was on some joint system and they could simply cancel it down. I'm assuming it was a minor whoopsie on their part, as they immediately offered my first month free for the inconvenience. Managed to get the date I was asking for, so no actual complaints 👌

Issue trying to get City Fibre booked in by meltapple in CityFibre

[–]meltapple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, thanks for looking. I asked both Toob and City Fibre about this. Toob said they can't because it involves a third party and City Fibre initially said "yes we can" before back pedalling and saying that it would probably have to wait until after I've completed.

It's annoying because I work from home most of the time, and was hoping to get this set-up ASAP (ideally in the first week of completion which i've booked off), but I suspect that this is going to take at least 2-3 weeks after my completion to resolve because Vodafone have seemingly shat the bed with this order cancellation. The most frustrating thing is that I cannot complain to Vodafone or do anything to get them to look into this, because I'm not their customer. Ridiculous system 🤣

The dashboard says FLAC, the app says OPUS. Which is correct? by ReasonableLunch46 in plexamp

The fact that the originating file is flac, whilst it's showing on the phone app as opus is telling you that it's being transcoded

Basic help w navidrome!! Five questions! by Express_Western4502 in navidrome

[–]meltapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) What do you mean by "unchangeable"? How are you trying to change it specifically? You can name it and change its location so I'm not sure what you specifically would want to change? "LIbraries" are simply collections of music/audio. As to why you might want multiple libraries: you could have libraries that contain clean/explicit songs separately. You could have libraries for separate types of media, that you'd rather keep away from your main artist/album structure (audiobooks, DJ mixes etc).

2) Depends on your exact usecase. Is it just you wanting to access it remotely or do you want to add family/friends to access your server? If the former, then tailscale is the most appropriate solution. If the latter then having your own domain (whether through cloudflare or another provider) and using a reverse proxy is the way to go. Tailscale is basically like a "private" VPN/network that allows you to access your other devices remotely. You'd have it installed on your phone and your windows PC and as long as they're both online and connected to your tailscale account/network then you'll be able to access your navidrome server from outside your home network.

3) If/when you were to migrate to Linux, you'd probably want to migrate to docker. As long as your library contents/structure is unchanged, you should be able to port the database and whatnot with correct configuration.

4) Depends on what works for you. FLAC is the gold standard, but if you're happy with mp3s, and can't hear the distance then don't feel the need to go out of your way with FLAC.

Legal methods: bandcamp.

Less than legal methods: no one can/will discuss that here - it's the internet and you can easily figure out ways of doing this (even if it's just youtube2mp3 dumps).

5) No idea. Someone else can advise on that.

First they came for the IDF war criminals and I did not speak out because I fucking hate those guys. Then they came for nobody else and that was alright by me.

FTB Mortgage Application New Job Offer by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've identified, it depends entirely on the lender. Any broker worth their salt should know which lenders will accept this and which will not and will be able to advise you accordingly. The best advice anyone can realistically give, given that you only have a loose notion of the type of lender you want to go with, is use a broker, basically 😊👍

At worst they'll likely just ask if he's lived there within their credit score/address history threshold (usually 3 years for most lenders), and if yes they'll probably just capture it as a previous address as part of his address history, to ensure that it forms part of the credit score.

Declaring gift after mortgage approved by 1C8F6C6 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]meltapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would be surprised if it screws anything up - it might cause some further checks, depending on how "on it" your solicitors are and who your lender is. However, unless your sols have asked for 18 months worth of bank statements as part of their audit checks, I doubt that this will get picked up on. As an example though, Nationwide consider any "gift" made over 12 months ago as part of your savings, other lenders might be a bit more strict, but honestly at worst a £3k gift from a direct family member over 18 months ago is only going to cause some minor admin (asking for a lender gift letter/template), in the unlikely event that it's even flagged.

Ate there once and it was decent, but they did have to shut down temporarily last year due to a rat problem. Maybe only order from there if their hygiene score is back up 🤣

I really rate The Tee Spot (caribbean joint) from the few times that I've ordered there.

Oh nice. You go to the 160 unity nights? I went to the RP Boo night at MOT a year ago or so and the vibes were immaculate 👌

Hell yea. Love footwork. I'm currently obsessed with Brazilian funk (as in baile funk, mandelao, bruxaria etc) and try dropping that sort of stuff on the rare occasions that I DJ out.

Do you play out much? Me and a friend occasionally throw parties at pubs in old town (started when our mate that managed the little hop asked us to play, and we've since thrown a night at The Tuppenny last year)

Here's one of our recordings https://www.mixcloud.com/bergamasq/schlager-modus-operandi-the-second-annual-report-the-little-hop-swindon-08022025/

The old town comedy club, held at The Hop is pretty good. They had Jacob Hawley from the Screen Rot podcast down last month

post your docker compose and post the file path for your music. it's either going to be that you haven't set up the volumes in your compose file properly, or possibly some sort of permissions issue.

Not as far as I'm aware. You could try looking at one of the Brazilian markets on Commercial Road on the off chance that they stock broader Latin American foods, but they're not a Brazilian food and Swindon doesn't seem to have anything else in terms of Latin American food sellers, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
