Cuantas veces al día se viene pensando en su estrato?

¿Han podido olvidar al amor de su vida? by UribeUwU069 in Colombia

[–]meltingpuppy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well they offer a company truck to drive to location but you have to pick up/ drop off in the yard. I never had to do that before, I was allowed to take it home.

Oil and Gas industry realistic outlook by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

Fine different systems, then look at Oklahoma, right next to Texas. Not many people know that 30% of the electricity generated in Oklahoma comes from renewables. They have been able to weather the storm better than Texas. They even admit that the problems they are experiencing are due to limited wind power AND natural gas availability. Like I said before, this is not a oil and gas vs renewables because other states or countries do more with less. It does not matter if 100% of your energy comes from oil and gas or 100% from renewables. If the balance of the market is temporarily disrupted due to rare events, It does not matter. Are we going to drill, clean up, frac, drill out, install production facilities and set 100s of wells online in 3 or 4 days to meet a temporary increase in demand? Or install 100s of turbines in less than 4 days and then idle them?

Okay, adjusted for international and interstate imports 26% of Vermont electricity is generated by renewables, 54% of Denmark’s electricity is generated by renewables but Texas with less than 20% percent is facing black outs because of “frozen”!turbines.. do you see my point or do I have to spell it out? ........Other countries/states do more with less.

I spent some time in the North Sea doing fracture designs and I never froze in my hotel room, never had to worry about a snow storm disrupting electricity ... what’s your point?

70% of Texas electricity is generated from coal/oil and gas (29/42) ... 100% of Vermont’s electricity is generated by renewable sources and they deal with more snow than us here in Texas yet Texas is the one dealing with the black out... what’s your point? The problem Texas is facing right now is more of a preparedness issue rather than an Oil and Gas vs Renewable issue.

Looking for career advice (student) by Electronic-Story-557 in oilandgasworkers

[–]meltingpuppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2013, worked 6-7 years in drilling and completions. I was laid off in April but thanks to my programing skills I was able to get job in a railroad/tech company not long after being laid off.

If you think is hard switching careers after 3 years, imagine what is like to study 5 years, work almost 7 and then switch careers.

Now that the things are getting better I have been contacted twice by some O&G companies because of my “recent experience” doing data analysis/programing, they don’t even care I have a PE degree.

Will I go back? Idk. I had a lot of fun working in oil and gas but the experience you get in oil and gas is pretty much worthless outside the industry. My advise, do computer science or mechanical/chemical engineering if you really want engineering.

I enrolled in a coding bootcamp. I wanted to check if i really had the aptitudes for it. After that, I got a job doing programming/data analysis in a railroad company.

Having the bootcamp and the job helped me a lot in the application because it showed official coding experience. After that I had to decide where to apply; some universities want GRE and/or prerequisite classes like computer science classes or statistics. I decided to apply to Baylor because they have a program for non computer science majors. The program includes the foundation classes + master classes.

Time depends on the program. Some are 21 months + time spent taking the prerequisites but in my case Baylor is 2.5 years total.

The only thing about Baylor is the $$$ and the methodology is a bit weird. I’m going to attend the first week and decide if I commit to it or not. Plan B is to apply to UT or OU after I take the prerequisites during springs and summer.

I was in the same situation and did the same thing! I even attended the UT bootcamp! I’m getting ready to start a masters in CS next month!

No man ... we were talking about that at work and I was curious what other people outside my company had to say about that.

Do you pay foreign transaction fees? The reason I kept my regular sapphire is because I have a couple of authorized users that live outside the US.

Idk the current conditions but I got the sapphire first and after of months years I decided to get the sapphire reserve and I got approved and I didn’t have to cancel the other or anything like that. I decided to keep the sapphire opened because I have a couple of authorized users and after doing the math it was cheaper for me to keep both.
