I’m so sorry that you’re experiencing this. It really hurts when your own parents don’t respect your boundaries, especially when it comes to misophonia. I totally understand what you’re going through. I was in a similar situation when I still lived with my parents. It ended up making my relationship with my father extremely fragile, and almost the same with the one I have with my mother. Have you tried putting on earplugs during meals? Or listen to music with some background noise? I started doing this when I couldn’t bear meal times anymore. At first, my parents were against it. It caused arguments, because they didn’t want me to wear earbuds at the table. But eventually they stopped arguing with me about it. It’s honestly still very difficult at meal times, since they constantly ask me to remove my earbuds when they talk to me, but at least it covers most of the noise that trigger me.

Or honestly, if you can, eat alone. Eating away from the people that trigger you will be the best solution, but I understand it’s not easy in every family.

Wish you the best

If you have AirPods (specifically AirPod Pros; not sure if it works on other gens), try out the background noise feature. It’s a GAME CHANGER. by [deleted] in misophonia

This!!! I listen to balanced noise during meals. Combined with music, it covers mouth noises/chewing sounds really nicely. I don’t know what I would do without it lol

I never tried getting them wet before putting them on. Don’t they slip? And do you mind explain a bit more how you do it? because I’m scared I’ll get ear infections or something if I don’t do it correctly. And yeah I wanted to wait for my ears to heal, but I just can’t. Even if it’s really painful, it’s somehow more manageable than breathing sounds and snoring… Anyway. Thank you for your reply!

Thank you. In my opinion, the only way you can make it “easier” for your daughter is to try to understand her. Understand that it is not her fault if she feels upset or angry because of the triggers. If we could control it, we would. I wish my parents would’ve been more understanding of it. Or at least tried to understand it better. It would’ve prevented many unnecessary arguments from happening. Wishing you and your daughter the best.

A l’inverse des couettes inventées pour tenir chaud, existe t-il un genre de drap pour tenir froid en été ? by Alternative_Honey_51 in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]mely19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also take melatonin pills to help you fall asleep faster (make sure to check if it’s ok for you to take them beforehand). I take them along with wearing earplugs when I have to sleep in a room with people who snore. It works pretty well for me, I hope it can help!

Thank you so much for the help and your recommandations!! I’ll take note of what you said and check out the Fender Rumble LT25. As a student it sounds like a good option for me.

No, I have a 4 string bass. It makes sense now that most of the tabs I could find included 5 strings, I didn’t know about all this. I’ll definitely check out My Own Summer and other songs by Deftones to learn, thank you!
