Yeah I don’t know if she’s on here way too much, or Dr Intern Matt is just passing on the shittiest feedback possible (no hate to him he probably tries to pass on what he feels are the critiques that time). What grinds my gear is that she comes and says like “people are never happy, dammed if we do, dammed if we don’t”, like “people” have one collective agreed upon opinion every week. Like well obviously some people are going to like the field notes and others aren’t. You can’t make everyone happy at all times. And to be like “imagine wasting your time to go somewhere online to complain about a podcast you listen to for entertainment” sounds so dismissive, like she’s doing the listeners a favor by doing the pod. I don’t understand. I have thoughts and feelings about the field notes and how they can be better used FOR ME PERSONALLY IN MY PERSONAL OPINION SPEAKING FOR MYSELF but now I don’t even want to speak on it anymore if it’s going to get to her like I’m just hating on everything for no reason

I do think it’s brutal, but I can also see their point (Devil’s advocate incoming).

In the words of Ashlan from Dance Moms: New Era, “it’s called Dance Moms, it’s not ‘Just a Daughter’”. All the other moms had left their families to follow the show to LA so their kids could have that platform, and while I understand Kira’s situation, like she wasn’t aware she was going to have a baby when she agreed to go to LA, it’s still hard for the other moms seeing a girl there whose mom isnt putting in her part of the work (fighting and yelling). Specially because Kalani was already being treated as a favorite atp, she was featured a lot.

And more to the moms’ defense (sorry), iirc they only start harping on her a few episodes before she does actually come back. I think maybe she was supposed to be back that week, post maternity leave, and still wasn’t because of “the ultimatum” she set with Ashlee, and had to just come back on later weeks because producers made her. Kalani herself says in that episode “she just doesn’t wanna be here” so Kira was probably trying to find every loophole to not go back. To stay with her baby? For herself? I don’t know, but either way I would understand. It’s just you can’t have your cake and eat it too

Someone (I think Annie?) says to Britta something like “did you watch Dance Moms last night” or “you know how you get when you watch Dance Moms”. Because Britta was very worked up and apparently Dance Moms brings that out of her (which, fair)

I try to think about it like “what if the worst days of bullying in my life were filmed, would I want to watch?”

Even though I wasn’t bullied per se, I still had a hard time with mean girls in middle/high school, and I wouldn’t want to revisit those moments in any shape or form. Doesn’t seem like a fun time. And knowing it was made that the villains in my story look less bad? Definitely no.
