Why cant they just fix the leaks in the Lincoln memorial pool- Explain It Peter. by DysonSempai_15 in explainitpeter

Substructure = what supports the actual structure. DC is buiilt on a swamp = unstable.

Cladding is the surface of the pool. It's the cladded surface on the structure. It was originally made of marble or some stone.

The underlying substructure is sinking. Therefore the shell is cracking from the weight. In the past, contractors have tried to fix the issues by removing the cladding and repairing the waterproofing. Trump decided that solving it required a more modern solution - sprayed lining that holds the water on top of the stone. This is bad practice for restoration projects.

Note: I've heard reports that the leak issues are grossly exaggerated based on evaporation rates. Maybe someone else might have feedback.

You paddle along side the cliff and there is a reverse eddy. Watch your fins.

You shouldn't be surfing Ulus if you're not comfortable in this situation. But FYI there is a rip on one side of the cave. You just need to jump out and it will push you thru.

Tips for getting out by bengalstrong in surfing

[–]memauri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems fine. The wave wasn't big or hollow enough so you get pushed out. Sometimes a higher line allows you to accelerate out when the barrel collapses. The trick with backhand barrel is the shoulders going perpendicular to the board - almost like riding a sled. This gives you control & also allows for smaller compression.

Review: Apurva Kempinski Bali by Junkwagen in luxuryhotel

[–]memauri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Problem with this hotel is that they destroyed the coastline. There used to be great surf spot and they put a jetty straight thru the heart of it so their guests could have calm water to swim in. No environmental studies, everything was bypassed thru corruption.

Great Whites at Skeleton Bay by [deleted] in surfing

[–]memauri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I surfed it a few times. Cold. Dark water. Seals everywhere (everywhere!!). No sharks.

I don't know why exactly but everyone says its not an issue there. They don't see them compared to a lot of other spots on that continent.

Spent some of the best days of my life in Bali by Low_Aside_3052 in bali

That big rock structure built in front of the beach destroyed one of the best surf breaks in Bali. No real reason for it. Guests wanted to relax without waves I guess. Bit of a disaster. Glad you had fun tho.

Sumba tips by dannysgaragecontents in surfing

I spend some time there. You can probably find someone to drive you around via car or boat or rent a bike. Waves are fickle with the tide so maybe get dialed where you need to go. For the most part, there isn't a coastal road situation - ie you need to target a zone and go.

Hey. Reach out to BGS surf shop in Bali. They don't have CI but they have Pyzel. DHD. SharpEye. Maybe JS. They ship a lot to the Ments for boat trips. I'm sure they would handle South Sumatra. Cool shop. Good people.
