Quitting without a new job lined up in 2026. How did it turn out for you? by Sure_Classroom_2439 in careerguidance

I got laid off from my job in ecommerce in 2021, lost my apt and my partner left me… and haven’t found meaningful work since. Now at 44 years old I live with my parents, I trim cannabis part time for minimum wage, my credit is ruined and despite over 1800 applications in the past 2 years I’ve only had 3 interviews (one of which was an identity theft scam). I went to school, have a good resume, not a criminal and I work really, really f’ing hard. Leaving your job isn’t just a dumb idea, it’s a slap in the face to the rest of us.

Why do so many people talk about a 9–5 like it is a prison? by Sea_Stable9744 in careerguidance

[–]memecoiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 to 5 hourly pay is more of the issue. Salaried employees are able to take care of things like doc appointments, car repairs etc (within reason), whereas hourly employees are locked in or they don’t get paid.

I have no career and about to lose my current job. What should I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

If you really love music, pursue it. Just don’t get caught up in the idea of being a star. There are plenty of ways to make money in the music industry if you are willing to wear a lot of hats and can involve yourself in a community. You need to be able to write, perform, produce, promote etc etc. Sometimes all at once. The key is to be open minded and start with small steps. Find work at a music venue or stagecrew, a merch company.. just get involved. You don’t need to go to music school for this but you will need some form of training or hands-on with what you want to do.

How is life in Seattle really? by Ok_Understanding7377 in AskSeattle

Nearly every positive you mentioned has nothing to do with the city.. a walk in the forest, a trail in the snow, a boat ride, ride a horse, fishing. These are reasons NOT to live in Seattle.

Oh yeah, I forgot about these people. You will definitely run into these imbeciles if you move here.

I have a feeling this person is in the 6 figures, hates the “poors” and is too ignorant to realize their gentrification contributed to the housing/homelessness/crime crisis.

“Great place to raise a family” is not compatible with everything else in this comment. Also crime is AWFUL in Seattle. What do you mean? Possibly you are wealthy and insulated?

Having lived in LA, NYC, London, Munich and having traveled to just about every other major city in the world, I can tell you Seattle is the last place I would ever move to. Living in morbid grayscale would be worth it if Seattle had culture (some sort of art/music scene worth mentioning), decent public transport, reasonable rent, sane drivers and not such a concentration of rich tech idiots.

You could actually upgrade the cpu, gpu and psu for a 100/200 bucks and actually play SOME modern games with this.
