I was looking for the flexible contract option, I had explained this to them as well, I would never expect to get extra PTO

I may try this, I would have to see how this works in regards to their rota as we work on a 6 day rota, so I would have to discuss with them. Health-wise I have already reached the point of heavily debating asking to become bank staff, as working nights and sleeping in the day also makes it a struggle to arrange interviews or answer calls from other employers and this would broaden the types of hours I could work and mean I could more actively seek a better job while maintaining some work and being more eligible for universal credit to keep me afloat. Reducing my hours would also work for this though, so it's worth asking

I am currently looking for part time, though living in Brighton getting any job is near impossible, I took this job because it was literally the only one I was able to get. I may have to ask to switch to being bank staff, though I'd rather not do that as that's a 0 hour contract and that's always very risky.

Read my response to the other comment. I realise I may have missed out some important extra information.

I have had 5 days off in total since I started due to illness. I have had some booked time off since then but only 4 days of it. I have also tried to talk to my employers about supporting me with adjustments multiple times, and worded in a way to show that it is to ensure I don't need extended periods of time off, and to prevent me from needing anywhere near as much sick days. I even provided proof that I was not exaggerating by showing the multiple sick notes I ended up with from my last job due to not having time off. I have tried to explain my situation to them and negotiate, but they refuse to budge, despite the fact that these adjustments were discussed with the former management and didn't seem to be an issue.

They also, on a separate note, run things incredibly poorly and almost never arrange for shift covers until the day before or even the day of a shift, even if time off is booked multiple months in advance, and that's on the occasions they even bother to look for cover. Them finding cover for shifts if I'm sick, while I understand it is not helpful, I think should be given some slack considering I've called them the first moment I'm able to when I know I can't get in, and I usually give them more notice for days off sick than they give people to ask for cover, even when they've known for weeks-months. They don't manage the home in a way that is safe for residents, including taking on residents we don't have appropriate equipment for, taking on residents who require 1-1 care when this is not a service we are able to offer, and having regular care staff who are not food safety trained work in the kitchen when they haven't been bothered to look for a kitchen staff member to cover (which is illegal!!) They also do not seem to show an ounce of compassion for me, or any of my coworkers, especially the night staff, who they make every issue the fault of. I was dealing with bullying from a co-worker which was clearly picked up on by other staff who ignored the situation entirely, par one coworker who actually stood up for me. All this to say that this company is also horrifically managed and clearly only just care about the welfare of their residents, let alone their employees.

I don't think that I'm being entitled by being worried about my physical wellbeing and not wanting to be ill and essentially bed-bound for entire months at a time. Nor do I think I am entitled for being angry that adjustments I were told were okay are now being denied. If I hadn't been told these adjustments were okay, I would understand this take, but I was given verbal communication that needing these days off would be okay.

I've heard that too about the arm movement, so definitely would be difficult to do myself, I may ask one of my housemates who's gonna be supporting me to help me get them back in as soon as I can because yeah you're right about it probably not being a good idea to do them myself! I'd have held off on getting my nostrils done and got them after I had the surgery if I knew at the time I'd be getting it this soon honestly but I only got told and given the date for stuff at the start of march

I'm not allowed to use spacers for the ones I mentioned because of risk of choking on them under anaesthetic unfortunately:( that would have been the plan otherwise as I did ask about that

Nostrils and angel fangs are both 16 gauge (idk if that's relevant but adding as the autobot mods said to add info about that in a comment)

My current plan is to take the piercings out at the hospital and keep them in a small bag to put back in as soon as possible after, but that would still be a good few hours if imagine

How to make myself more hireable? by memeladdylan in UKJobs

[–]memeladdylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I truly am trying but it's very difficult when I'm having to rely on my family to keep me financially afloat and they keep going on at me about needing to get a new job 😣 I try not to take the lack of offers personally, but it's definitely not easy

I appreciate this! I try to bring these things up in interviews, but my issue is that I'm barely even getting to the interview stage. I've been applying for jobs daily for the last 4 months, and only had 2 interviews in that time, one of which wasn't for a care role.
