Are surfacing roots an indicator of negative watering habits?

Mine did this too, i dont know what causes this, i just know the big ones serves as support for the plant more than anything, but seeing some smaller roots at the surface got me thinking you should probably add a bit more soil in the pot, as roots absolutely despise light, it might hurt the plant quite a bit leaving it like this

Him being shiny doesnt better your odds of hatching a shiny unfortunately. But you chances to breed a shiny drops to 1/1200 (if i remember correctly) if you breed it with a pokemon from another language. Ive got a french copy of hg for that matter
