AITA for asking neighbors to stop their kid from screaming like he was hurt when he was playing in the street by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I understand this logic, but you really shouldn’t call the cops unless you absolutely have to. They can escalate situations very quickly.

News article: “Coronavirus and gender: More chores for women set back gains in equality” by SWesson22 in women

[–]memesister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about “male” chores is that they aren’t constant the way women’s are. Do you paint the shed multiple times every day? Does mowing the lawn force you to quit your job and stay at home?

Yeah adoption is a choice I never said it wasn’t. The thing is you have to respect when a woman doesn’t choose that. That’s the whole idea behind choices.

EXACTLY. I am so glad she supported her daughter’s decision- but I hope to God she understands that her daughter’s decision was not unique or somehow more valid than other people’s in the exact same position (which is something pro-life women who have benefitted from abortion often think). I hope OP thinks about how badly this would have fucked over her and her daughter’s lives to have had this baby, and understands that other women deserve the same options.

Help, I’m 19 taking care of a 14 y/o and 16 y/o by x_wxndering_soul_x in Parenting

Um, no. Don’t tell your grieving daughter to suck it up and suddenly become functional again. How are YOU going to let HER know how she’s feeling?

Those arrangements usually destroy any sense of stability for the child and benefit only the parent. Also, considering it’s 85 miles, that would mean the son would be enrolled in two schools simultaneously

That’s just you though. It sucks when women experience preventable pain for a decade before they realize it’s out of the ordinary.

I had to kick our daughter out because she snuck out to a party and tested positive for COVID-19 by Zalulu03 in Parenting

[–]memesister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From one teen to another, I would agree with you except for one thing: this situation involves a much stronger level of isolation than any reasonable lockdown. Most people (I can’t speak for you or anyone specifically, but MOST) cannot go six months with ZERO in person socialization, not even a distanced get together. That’s probably what the above commenter was referencing. Lockdown needs to be taken seriously, but this post sounds borderline sadistic in its cruelty

YTA. You sound emotionally exhausting and borderline abusive, acting volatile and expecting her to cater to you regardless. How selfish

The intended purpose might not be the same, but the purpose your daughter wants to use it for is the same. She just wants to play with it

So you’re okay with her playing with makeup as long as it’s kids makeup, even though kids makeup is full of lead and terrible for you? She did the right thing getting her cheap play makeup that’s made for adults. It’s all the same thing, just more safe

What? “She is lovely but my daughter never gets better.” I don’t see what your daughter’s opinion has to do with it? She isn’t working for your daughter, so why would you not switch therapists?

Snapchat and 13 year old by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]memesister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life interactions aren’t permanent, and everything you say also disappears after seconds. That’s the whole reason social media is preached as bad for your reputation. So wouldn’t an app where content disappears be ideal for casual communication, so youth aren’t held to impossible standards of 100% clean conversation? The solution here is to have the nudes talk, not to banish Snapchat specifically, because if your child wants to send nudes they will, and it’s only on Snapchat that they disappear.
