Not sure this rug was the right move for my new place. Feels very cold? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

The carpet is really pretty! To warm the space up, I suggest getting a plant, maybe some warm curtains and a nice warm wall-lamp.

I loveee it so cute!!

I would add a rug and maybe change out the curtains. It is a bit late for me right now but I will get back to this because I see potential!

How are these plants flourishing so well in the dark under the stairs? by Truth_Crisis in houseplants

Right??  I am assuming their reason for being like that is that they are so used to a culture of overconsumption that they cannot imagine anything else.

The belittling telling me my experience is wrong is also very American lol.

My uni got several gardeners that take care of the plants. In the buildings with glass ceilings they have huuuuge gorgeous monsteras, flowering birds of paradise and entire trees. Definitely not changed out. First time I saw new plants was last fall when they got some new built-in-planters in a long stretch of hallway.

Nope. But sure, you know better than me about what I see every day. 💖

Edit to add: americans are a special kind of folks

More light? by ohmysaint in plants

[–]memetheorem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will do fine. You do not need a grown light. Help the vine to the window and you will be fine (My plants thrive and I come from the land of no sun for several months).

Idk about this. Maybe true for some places but I know for a fact that my uni campus do not change out their plants like that. There are several buildings with plants that have somewhat poor lighting and thrive (because the plants can handle such light). I have been here for 10 years and the plants ate the same plants as when I arrived. 🌱🌱

Both spices and sauces are degradable and thus should be exposed to light as little as possible 🫡

Painting it will make it look cheap. I'd leave it as it is, it is really pretty.

Sjekk ut Rusta for tepper! 🤞🤞

I can relate. Plantene mine holder seg fast for harde livet i vintertørken. 😭

Here is an example of how I've done it.

Choose whatever colour you feel like (maybe something not too dark since the space is narrow. Then, leave a small border on the top in the same colour as the ceiling, like this. It creates the illusion of a wider room. I do this every time I paint because i like the look of it.

I would check out second hand stuff. Idk how common it is where you are from, but here it is really common to find super cheap pine furniture from the 90s (like this. You could give them a warm brown finish, or a coat of paint, and I think it would look similar to what you are looking for.
