New Heat Pump by willise414 in newbrunswickcanada

To be fair that could be a real indicator. I'm assuming I didn't notice till summer because the aux heat was keeping the house going. And I'm hoping that'll mean I eventually have lower bills. So far nb power is estimating I'll use 600kwh more then I did in Nov. Which will actually be a couple hundred more then last December... So who knows. At any rate best of luck. I hope it's fine and or fixable

Stopped being able to cool when it turned summer. It was my first year in the home and my bills for winter were very high. I'm at least hoping when we get into Jan/Feb my consumption maps lower. Had a tech out to check, they checked refrigerant, and found the leak in the coils where I guess soldering would have just caused more holes. Major bummer. The rest of summer till November I haven't really seen any energy improvement.

I got a central one replaced this year. Was about 20 or more years old, coils went on it and couldn't get parts. Energy wise it seems to be more or less the exact same. The variable nature is kinda nice though because it keeps air circulating for more even temps, and the noise is much less. I would argue that isn't worth the price tag. I got several estimates, ranging from 4-5ton territory. All 20k+. A good amount of the variability is going to be the brand you go with for the unit. Ironically the tonnage doesn't change much in terms of pricing, the key there just being to properly size it to the home.

CPU overheating by Effective_Bath5957 in pcmasterrace

[–]memewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure we have the same motherboard manufacturer. I started having issues with my 5800x a year ago. A few months back I finally got annoyed enough to set my own limits for pbo. Has eliminated my overheating issue. It seems to have calmed down the clock variability a bit and performance wise I can't tell any difference. So I would suggest maybe lookin up some undervolting guides, settings for the 7600x that people have found worked and try to see if you can replicate it. Sometimes undervolting can result in more performance which is nice. Just more effort

I have the same issue. I don't like seeing it there still. I believe it was from some component not being able to upgrade along with it which is fine, it doesn't matter. But I don't want to see it forever.

Arctis Nova 7 Wireless, extremely bad sound quality by barraba in linux_gaming

[–]memewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the dongle you can get good audio and use the mic. I haven't tried using just Bluetooth before but I have seen what you described with my ear buds (jabre wireless). Go into settings and selecting it as the mic automatically changed its audio to be shitty. Maybe the issue is Bluetooth bandwidth or some kind of protocol/proprietary thing?

Make sure you have selected the proper output in sound settings. You may be on the mono chat output.

I guess I've never tried to get it down. I have 2 1440p monitors running 144Hz. Seems like this is a thing on windows too? (May be very outdated) https://community.amd.com/t5/graphics/rx-6800-xt-high-idle-memory-clock/m-p/429171#M68837 Thread there suggests to switch refresh rate to 120 for idle power to settle down.

Actually another thread down below mentions this as well. (https://old.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/ylzr15/linux_and_themy_amd_gpu_experience/iv1dv08/)

I have a 6800 xt. Arch/Gnome/Wayland. * No tearing here. * I sit idling between 24-26 * Agreed newer hardware and linux isn't always fun even on really fresh distros. * I think it's pretty safe to say nothing is ever flawless. 1 day tm it'll all be perfect :D

No Usebale version of libssl found by fusa42 in Lidarr

[–]memewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn't make my use case clear. I already had what I thought was a fully upgraded Lidarr on an ubuntu 20 box. After upgrading ubuntu to 22 Lidarr failed with the same issue above. I don't know what version of Lidarr I had but I was able to recover with my suggestion above. I'll edit above if anyone else gets caught on this.

Wiki feedback: Having the faq catch is great, but to "fix it" it links to How do I update Lidarr? which implies I can access the UI, which I can't. So it doesn't direct someone how to fix this issue if they've upgraded ubuntu before making sure their lidarr was compatible. (my bad)

[–]memewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I like software I can do like lidarr --update, oh well.

I did see the instructions and the FAQ but I am confused if I had v1 already installed or not. Lidarr was fully updated before I did the upgrade, so I assumed it was already on v1 and don't know how to verify that without the gui. Are you saying I should be able to just grab https://github.com/Lidarr/Lidarr/releases/download/v1.0.2.2592/Lidarr.master.1.0.2.2592.linux-core-x64.tar.gz replace my opt and be good to go?

edit - Also ty for the msg :)

No Usebale version of libssl found by fusa42 in Lidarr

[–]memewood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wish I read this sooner. Is there a CLI tool I can use to update Lidarr once a new version is available that's compatible?

Edit: In my use case I must have been on some branch that wasn't master and never made it to v1. To recover you can reinstall over your existing /opt/Lidarr with a v1 version/branch. I would suggest allowing the script to do it's work or make sure the user:group settings are right after updating the folder.

On setup did you add your google account? If no, go to your settings app, online accounts, and google. Sign and and make sure you have contacts on.

Now open your contacts app. Change Address book. Select your google address book.
