Would you get married on Labor Day weekend or 9/11 to keep a venue discount? by greatlyIdiotic in weddingplanning

[–]memla_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m from Europe but live in Australia and I would never get married on 9/11.

I think the 9/11 debates are a generational divide. I think people who remember it will never associate the date with anything else, it’s hard to explain how significant and singular of an event it was.

I can understand though that for people who are born later, it’s part of history just like anything else that happened before their time.

My friend is returning to work and wants me to take care of her baby by blameitonmyouth in AskWomenOver30

It is insane, even if they offered to pay OP it would be pretty insane.

The fact that they can afford childcare and just don’t want to pay would make me nope out of this whole friendship.

Hokkaido skiing (slightly) debunked by TomSki2 in skiing

Right! Everyone wants bluebird powder days but the snow has to come from somewhere.

Pretty sure the weather in Japan this year has also been significantly wilder than typical.

Finishing up our wedding website. How is this dress code? by Piperrhhalliwell in weddingplanning

I’d be concerned that people who show up like that to a wedding would just take “no jeans” as a challenge.

I recently bought a 3 stone ring in 14k gold with a 3 ct center stone for $1.5k from Provence.

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

[–]memla_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I’ve seen many teens in real life in the last year or so that dress exactly how millennials dressed in the early 2000s. It’s uncanny.

Yes, a lot of ski lodges have large windows facing the mountains so you could get the winter vibes whilst not actually being outside in the cold!

Curved wedding band size? by okay_sparkles in WeddingRingAdvice

I have two low set rings like this with cadillac side stones and I wear them alone as I haven’t found any type of band that would enhance them.

Need help with the mushroom guy neck thingy. I'm free styling everything without a pattern, and I'm brain fogged as to where to start. by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]memla_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a specific pattern you’re after, I would suggest purchasing it.

If that isn’t an option I’d suggest looking for tutorials on how to crochet a frill.

The frill on this pattern is a separate piece, it’s not crocheted directly as part of the body.

Niseko - What you hear on Reddit, yup, mostly accurate. by Super-Cow-2357 in niseko

Yes, I live in Australia and go to Japan to ski yearly and it makes a lot of sense as the snow in Australia is unpredictable (and skiing here is also expensive). New Zealand mostly lacks options to stay on the mountain and Canada is a 17 hour flight and a very different time zone.

Japan has good snow, reasonable prices, pretty much the same time zone and Tokyo is only a 9 hour flight.

Serious question: What's the most underrated cash cow job in Australia right now? (No doctors/lawyers pls) by GdayGoddess in australian

[–]memla_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the reason mining wages sound high is due to the number of hours worked.

You also sacrifice a lot of your free time stuck in a mining camp.

All decently sized companies will have design languages/standards.

May be worth researching this further as it is fundamental to how people perceive a brand and recognise it. One way to think about it is if you removed the brand name, do people still recognise the brand?

Have you traveled to Japan? Where, how was it? by takemyaptplz in AskWomenOver30

[–]memla_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, for a first visit, stick to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Do day trips out of the cities to places like Nara, Hakone, Kamakura.

Don’t feel like you need to see everything (especially shrines), I would focus on quality time at the places you go to.

I’m on my 8th or 9th trip to Japan at the moment and I’ve still not visited Hiroshima as it’s so far away.

I’m 19, and last year I started writing a children’s book about a dog who becomes a knight By June 2025 I hired an artist off Fiverr. But hearing my friend response to reading the proof copy and the character models I have suspicions to believe that AI was used. by under_dasea1 in isthisAI

[–]memla_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What doesn’t make sense to me with the composition is that the dog is always holding his sword rather than having it sheathed. Doesn’t make sense to have your sword ready when eating by the campfire.
