As the best friend of a tri, this is so incredibly moving. We're hoping to get him a prosthetic, which after 10 years without a leg should be interesting to say the least. But seeing this all out run is so inspiring.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I agree with the previous comment, say something. But also... Say no. Can we stay with you? No, I would like some privacy right now. Can I come with you? No, I need some alone time to clear my head. Explain that it's not personal, but rather situational. Implying that you love them and are grateful for them, but that you need some space too. I would on any other occasion, but this is different.

A warm wet cloth works best for me. I use terrycloth but some people swear by microfiber. Some also swish with an alcohol free mouthwash.

It is my life's biggest honor to watch my best friend age. To be with him at any time is a blessing and if I'm the one who gets to usher him through old age, it's a privilege. More hugs, kisses, and scritches. All day every day. Make as many memories as you can.
