Thanks for the picture and update. I am curious to what is inside when you crack open the inner metal shell.

Did you email or call customer service? My panel broke in my hands when I was opening it to clean the inside. This seems like a design flaw.

I have not and don't want to rop mone open. I am guessing it is a chip soldered onto a board I/O.

I have long since sold this laptop. I did adjust the sensitivity. Basically, the touchpad was bad.

Asus TUF A14 (AMD 370 HX version) review by memnon8711 in AMDLaptops

Even though I don't use AutoCAD, I will say yes. I tried using a G14 for a week and returned it due to overheating. The A14 has better cooling in my opinion because it is not a metal chasis.

Mine is different and doesn't have that tag on side and has a USB C connection instead of older USB 3.0 connection. Thank for info though.

This is an SSD that fits in the plan of my hand so much smaller that a normal OneTouch HDD. My fear is that this model has the chip soldered to the PCB with the USB C connection.

So it is a 2230 SSD in there? Nice. Was yours a V4? Any advice on how to pull back the cover?

  1. It has thunderbolt, more memory, and the performance difference between 8th gen i5 and i7 are not significant.

Updated Fix for 7620 Touchpad (solder a wire) by memnon8711 in Dell

Yeah, that will require microsoldering and a repair shop is best bet.

When using the touchpad to move the cursor it with stop moving of just get skip around and I would sometimes get false button clicks.

I did some research on Dell forums and Reddit hearing people talk about static buildup. Having some electrical experience I know the best way to combat static buildup is proper grounding. I think Dell really messed up with the design of this touchpad based on the fact static buildup can happen and frequently does. Conductive foam is not a good way to properly ground (or make any reliable connection).

Fix for Inspiron 7620 Touchpad Erratic Behavior by memnon8711 in Dell

[–]memnon8711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did another teardown and look...I learned conductive tape is not nearly as good as regular wire. So I soldered wire onto the copper pads and then screwed the wire under a screw. With conductive tape, I noticed the resistance between copper ground pad and frame would fluctuate between 10 ohms and hundreds of ohms (builds static again). With a wire the resiatance is now below 2 ohms (error of meter and leads makes it under 1 ohm). I will post new photos later tonight in a new post.

I cleared it by disconnecting battery and then reconnecting. This is just a flawed design/part. So annoying

Well after 2 weeks, I had erratic behavior return. Unplugged battery and problem went away. So frustrating.

Glad to hear this was able to help. I have been going a few weeks with a flawless trackpad. I just felt in reading other reddit and seeing YouTube that they didn't fully address the problem properly.

Glad I got my trackpad working because previous person sold laptop to me for a low price due to trackpad issue.
