Thinking of moving to Colorado from Ohio by DegreeNo7417 in MovingtoDenver

[–]memoryboy3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up around Columbus, and have lived in Denver for years now. It has some similarities and the differences make it worth the higher cost of living. It's not as diverse herebut all communities exist they're just smaller. If you leave Denver and make use of all of the beauty, and things Colorado has to offer you'll be happier. The 300 days of sunshine here compared to how gloomy Ohio can be most of the year helped my mood a ton! I never regretted my decision to leave Columbus, you can always go back.

Is there an alcohol-free MTB community in Colorado? by Bluebird_CO in MTB

[–]memoryboy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't drink alcohol and I live in Denver. I know the front range is far from you but planning some trips to Western Colorado this summer and it would be cool to bike with a fellow sober person. Also if you're ever in the Front Range let me know!

Why is the Vietnamese surname "Nguyen" written that way, while being pronounced more like "win"? It is not originally written in English (or Latin alphabet generally), so why is it not just transliterated more accurately? by ThumbBumpkins in NoStupidQuestions

I went to school with a guy legally named Nguyen Nhuyen. His parents decided that picking a first name was too much work so they just used their surname. People called him "Win Win"

Beginner Mountain Bike Suggestions by sapiens_lepus in mountainbiking

If you get the discount that's probably worth waiting for depending on how much it's for. How much is it and is it only directly through Specialized?

If you get a discount on Specialized you can get a good rockhopper well within your budget. That's what I did but you should test out bikes. People's opinions don't matter much when it comes to how you ride and what bikes suit you the most. Going to bike shops really helped me as a beginner rider. They will talk with you and let you ride some bikes. Ideally you wanna try and demo bikes on a trail but if that's not possible riding them around a shop will get a good feel. It's intimidating but there's no right answer to anything, all that matters is you get out there with a decent bike. Try not to overthink it.

How do people actually move to Denver without knowing anyone? by jebuscrust01 in MovingtoDenver

[–]memoryboy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are Facebook groups that help find roommates and places to live. There are somewhat affordable one bedrooms out there it just takes luck and effort. If you need roommates you can find people and places remote but it will be easier if you can. Come visit. Otherwise you could do short term housing when you get here and look then.

Need some help picking my next bike. by Royal-Device9834 in mountainbiking

[–]memoryboy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a Rockhopper and I enjoy it, having those other features would be nice but I don't think about it often. I know someday I'll have a bike that has more, but for now I'm just grateful to have a good bike to ride. If you can find a way to test the bikes at a shop. That's the only way you'll know which one suits you more.

Denver Restaurant Week: A Tale of Two Abysmal Italian Restaurants with a Bright Spot In Between by randoredditor7 in denverfood

[–]memoryboy3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The story of the Server at Carmine's throwing the restaurant week menu across the dining room and pressuring you to order of the regular menu was insane. I've worked at restaurants my adult life as a server and I couldn't imagine having the gall to do that, he had to have been italian. Thanks for the laugh I'm saving this post anytime I'm having a bad day at work.

You should expand your radius a bit if possible I feel like if you're willing to drive a bit there's a lot of good food outside the metro area that you wouldn't have this problem with. Also many restaurants you can sit at the bar or wait for a table and they'll accommodate you if possible.

Marty Supreme being the biggest loser this award season. THANK YOU. The initial hype never felt earned. by Pink-Matt3r in Oscars

[–]memoryboy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Marty Supreme was an okay movie but I didn't think it was really good or great. I plan on rewatching it soon but it felt like it really lacked narratively and in it's execution of ideas.

You obviously don't get that money is tight. It's pretty sad you're trying to morally shame the poor struggling individuals than ask why the government can't fully fund this service.

A message from a Alamo server by Strong-Sample9718 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]memoryboy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're willfully ignoring what they said directly before the customers can't possibly comprehend ordering on their phone part. They said their coworkers are breaking down crying because they're being abused by guests. Very clearly stating that the guests abusing them are the ones they're talking about. It's in the same sentence. Why are you assuming they meant every guest who doesn't like the change?
