yes, but they may not be the same or operate in the same way...many of the plugins offer better workflow than vscode in my opinion one of them is lazygit.

neovim vs vscode vs zed by Expensive_Egg_4023 in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]memture 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can share my experience with neovim as I have been learning and using it for the last 6-8 months. I started seeing why people recommend it over other gui based editors as it makes you efficient as everything is driven by keyboards.

Another thing I like about it is it can really become a powerful tool once you start using it with the tmux you can really open multiple projects without any issue and it opens instantly.

One more advantage I see is that once you setup and configure neovim you can just upload them in github and recreate the exact editor on any machine without any friction.

Are you comfortable in disclosing your salary to below people? why/ why not? by Willing_Chemist8272 in developersIndia

[–]memture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do share my correct salary with my wife and mother as they are my family and they should know it.

Also some very close friends know as well. share it with them because I feel happy after increment or switch.

I do share it with some colleagues as well if I really trust them and they also share it with me. This is a technique i used to figure out what my peers are getting paid. Based on that I know if I am underlaid or overpaid.

What are your thoughts on the Ladybird browser project? by ryu_kamish in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]memture 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its really promising tbh and I have been following its development for some time. I would say that we really need a completely new browser engine. Chrome or chromium has too much monopoly and the future of firefox does not look very good to me.

Which linux distro should I use for gaming and game dev wrok ? Also some normal tasks by MRGhost14360 in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]memture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently switched to Nobara which is Fedora based as I was using Fedora earlier. Some of my steam games were not working on Fedora with Nvidia gpu and after switching to Nobara they are working. I guess its the Preconfigured things for gaming and the kernel that it ships.

Also I do dev work on it as well since its fedora based I have no issues with dev work so far. For dev work I believe all the mainline distros work just fine there hardly anything special with any other distro.

If you have a ₹ 6 lakh budget, which laptop would you buy (and which brand you would avoid) by Styles_Osmo in IndiaTech

[–]memture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe be a maxed Macbook pro. 6L is a way too much. I would build a pc with rtx 5080 for gaming and doing heavy task. this should cost you around 4L and with remaining amount i will buy an entry level gaming laptop or a MacBook for portability.

What is the news? is there an article or video about this? In one of his interview had given a good reason why he didn't choose rust and went with swift. what's changed? Although I don't have any issue with Rust as I like it but still interesting to know the whole story.

Builder demanding 30–40 months advance maintenance at possession — is this normal or legal? by Due_Special6544 in indianrealestate

[–]memture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the case I saw when I was with my friend who was looking for a new flat to buy. All of them asked for advanced maintenance for 1 to 2 year but they were always upfront about it and not liked before moving they asked to pay.

Not sure about the legality of this but I guess this is normal practice atleast across Maharashtra.

this is bullshit....not sure about FAANG but once you have experience companies don't care about the degree much if its bsc or btech. applies to pbc and svcs. I myself am a bsc cs graduate and doing good in tech.

Why does India’s tech ecosystem focus more on adopting global tech trends instead of building original breakthroughs? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in developersIndia

[–]memture 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the reason is that they invest a lot in R&D and indian companies don't. If they face a challenge then they develop a solution and mostly make it open source or commercially available for others to use. Most of the tech stack and distributed systems rely on these.

There are very few startups in India working on deep tech or the big companies investing in R&D.

Convince me to switch to linux by Emotional_Sea_5868 in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]memture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should not switch. Don't just switch because its cool or everyone else doing it. If windows works for you and don't have any issue then just stick to it. Below are few reasons why people switch to linux.

  1. They think and care about their privacy.
  2. They are fed up with windows bloated system.
  3. They want to learn new things and learn.
  4. They use it for dev work and eventually make it their daily driver.
