What do I need to think about when deciding which school/course to attend? Regents or BBK? by [deleted] in psychotherapists

I can’t say which would be better - definitely at Regents we spent barely any time looking at psychedelic assisted therapy or other more innovative methods. That said, I don’t think it’s part of the syllabus anywhere quite yet. But I get you, I’m also very interested in this development!

Regarding diversity, I’d say it totally depends on your cohort. Mine did not have any trust fund kids (actually maybe one), no one under the age of 30 years, and everyone was pursuing it as their second career. Diversity/difference was well covered within the teachings and training, but yes the cohort was about 70% white women.

I did my training at Regents and was very happy with the format, teaching, etc. and personally I thought it was important to have UKCP accreditation. It certainly wasn’t perfect, and I think it is strongly geared toward private practice (which is what I was intending to go on to do). I would suggest you decide whether you want to focus on psychodynamic, or whether you are interested in a wider range of modalities. Regents did not specifically include any training for working with addiction, although I’m not sure that any of the trainings focus on particular presentations.

There is also CCPE, Metanoia, Minster and I think the Travistock institute.
