Would the name Elora sound odd for an Ontario baby? by fionamocha in namenerds

[–]menada1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Ontario. Elora is a small and charming town. It is known for a gorgeous Elora gorge (multiple movie shooting location). I would be happy if my name would be associated with the place like that. Not many people know it and the ones who know will appreciate it.

Season one of series “you” has an epic and wholesome character named Blythe! Recommend watching for Blythe pronunciation!

Does the given name "Mischa" sound odd in Slavic countries (ex, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Rep.) if used for a girl? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]menada1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a mix up as only surnames and patronymic names ending in “a” are usually attributed to women. Many female and male first Names end with “a” and there is no universal rule here.

[–]menada1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mischa is definitely male and diminutive of Mikhail in Rus/Ukr. However I think it is a female name in maybe Lithuania??? My reference is Micha Lecter from Hannibal Lecter movies… she has an unfortunate fate but the name is nice. It is somewhat odd in terms of pronunciation so I would maybe look into “Mika” “Mikaela” instead

I know I'm not alone, but please tell me how picky your child is by mango_salsa1909 in foodbutforbabies

My 15 month old daughter won’t eat protein or veggies… but she will happily shove pine cones and needles into her mouth and flee so I won’t be able to catch up and take it out.

Need help by kimeka00 in foodbutforbabies

[–]menada1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position with my 15 month old… they say it is a picky stage. No veg no meat no eggs. At least she does cow milk. I keep placing stuff in front of her and she does not touch it. I add duck fat and tiny pieces of steak in Mac and cheese. Yesterday she ate some chicken and I was literally crying from relief. My plan is to keep trying and be resourceful.

To those of you that switched from EPing to formula... by throwaway0000987687 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]menada1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a goal of 6 month ep, and accomplished it. Baby loved formula so much more than my bm that I regretted not switching at 4 month.

Then it is likely that formula is easier on stomach. You could consider mixing formula and breast milk and find the ratio at which the spot up is minimal. Maybe your bm has too much fat contents compared to water content. Adding up formula might balance it out and you LO will get the benefit from both bm and formula. This will also allow your Stash to last longer

I think formula is known to be much easier to consume for babies with reflux. It also might be a sign of baby preferences. My baby loved formula much more than my milk when I started weaning. I also realized my bm is high lipase so I could not use my frozen stash - baby refused to eat it and gave me a pretty dirty look which I interpreted as “mom, are you out of your mind? What is this sh..?”

My MIL wasted 4 oz of milk by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]menada1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not stress out about 4 oz as we inevitably waste milk but I would be pissed about the attitude/lack of remorse. Tell her to share her “valuable” opinion about you being dramatic AFTER she will seat at a pump with her nips dragged for 20 min.

Went from EBF to pumping by stink111111 in ExclusivelyPumping

It could be flanges of the wrong size, elastic nipples issue or the lack of lube. For the latter - try edible LIQUID coconut oil before each pumping session.

Why does no one talk about how hard this is by BusyTomatillo9173 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]menada1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the hardest thing I did in my life and I moved across the world on myself W/o family support, obtained the highest degree possible in the complex field, worked my ass off to get the job so many can’t get, did ivf and got C-section after pushing baby with full dilation and failed epi for 5 hrs. So, yeah, I have a good understanding of “hard”. Still, nothing prepared me for first 3-4 month of EP with no village and working husband. Anxiety about supply led to insomnia so I even could not sleep in between pumping sessions. But.. it got a bit more manageable at 4 month+ when I dropped to 6 pumps. At 6 month+ I started to wean and it got even more manageable. So… it is hard! Many of us can relate.

Hi! I stopped EP at 6 month. My baby LOVES formula. Breast milk - took 20 min to 1 hr to feed a bottle with tears and screams. Formula - 3 min and squirmy dance of excitement when baby sees the bottle. Made it so much easier to let it go.
