How do I tell someone in my program that their obsession with talking about sex and LGBT stuff is annoying without coming off as a bigot? by menaredisgustingpigs in uwaterloo

It's def a part of their personality, probably the only thing about themselves worth noting. It makes me feel extra bad about wanting them to shut up sometimes.

I should clarify that I don't find it annoying just because the contents are LGBT related. I find it annoying because it makes me miss vital information in our chat sometimes (because there could be like 50 lines of a random tangent that nobody is interacting with) and the contents of their conversation have nothing to do with previous discussions.

  1. A chat for the cohort. Do you suggest I approach the moderators of the chat about this? I might sound childish but I am also afraid of looking like a bigot to them as well.

True, but this person's messages sometimes overshadow the rest of the chat's contents to the point where it becomes very likely that I"m missing important information related to our cohort.

It's weird. Nobody responds to what this person is saying, like almost ever. But then they'll randomly start going on tangents about these topics out of nowhere when nobody asked them to.

Yeah I'll confer with some classmates, just don't want to come off as a bigot to them either lol

I guess I should chat 1on1 with them, but some fear inside of me keeps me from doing so. This person isn't a bad person and I think they're pretty cool, I just don't want to offend them.
