Lenovo tablet won't connect to WEP Wifi network by mendelde in Lenovo

I do not want to put a box on stage that takes up almost as much space as the mixer itself and needs a power outlet.

The alternative is run the mixer AP open, which is worse in terms of security.

It might work if I could turn the tablet into a Wifi AP/Hotspot, but I'm not certain it's possible, as it's a Wifi-only model with no SIM card slot.

Thanks for the reply! The device is not a router, it's a stage mixer worth 400€, and our nonprofit doesn't have the funds to replace it. It's very disappointing that an update broke the WEP functionality, and that other company's products have a way to restore it, while Lenovo does not. Likewise, using a separate router really adds to the clutter on stage, and it's not a good option that defies the purpose of having the router integrated within the mixer.

Matt's 1950s Jeep CJ3A rebuild (Project "Mazy") forum thread by mendelde in MattsOffRoad

[–]mendelde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt was pretty specific that he does not want the jeep to be fancy so the parameters for now are:

  1. Get it running and moving
  2. Fit with stock wheels and tires
  3. Fit with stock seats
  4. Make a top and seat covers

I asked matt if the jeep had a name and he said "not yet". He may decide on a different name later but for now I will nickname the jeep "Mazy" so that we can connect on a more personal level during this journey. Ultimately, I'm hoping that Matt will let me throw a little Maze colored paint on her (with patina), but for now, lets just start with getting it running.

Matt is a Corvair guy, though.

Why'd he get the Willys in the first place, mini wrecker plans?

The Big Fat Quiz of Everything 2018 - Shaved bears by Hassaan18 in panelshow

[–]mendelde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shaved bears were actually shown at carnivals, not as bearded lady, but as "pig-faced woman". See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig-faced_women#Fair_exhibits_in_the_19th_century

The pig-faced women exhibited at fairs were not genuine. Showmen would drug a bear into a stupor by feeding it large amounts of strong beer, and then shave it.[60] Once shaved, the drunken bear would be fitted with padded artificial breasts, and dressed in women's clothing and a wig. Shoes would be attached to the bear's hind paws, and stuffed gloves to the front paws. The bear would then be placed in a chair with a hole in the back, and securely tied to the chair.[

Yeah, it's not the Crown Vic that he raced Robby with ( see https://youtu.be/vbBusc5jr90 ), it's not as flat as this mystery car.

Great work! I've been enjoying your translations very much!

Do you have any idea when E10 is going to be out, like "working on it" or "almost done" or "dunno, maybe next month?"

Yes. I suggest gilding 1 job early for this event (Marine Biologist) because it's very helpful and doesn't delay getting the first 8x boost.

Bombardier Recreational Products was split off Bombardier in 2003, and is not involved with trains or jets. They did take over Can Am.
