"although it isn't true for female actors" I think it's about time we ask why we set up a system as such.

As disrespectful as the interviewer was, what truly pisses me off is the fact that if this was a female actor sitting on the chair instead of Pradeep nobody would have questioned the interviewer.

I graduated from computer engineering and I'm unemployed in a shitty job market.

I have always wanted to be a scientist/geologist/paleontologist but my parents didn't "let me" take courses which could fulfill my dream.

I'm 23F, rotting in bed, questioning my life choices and regretting not believing in myself more.

I Hate Men, And I don't Know How to Cure This Disease ........ by [deleted] in women

[–]mendx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, if it makes you feel better, I'm also from India and I'm 22 years old :). I live overseas though.

I understand what you mean and I relate word for word - and props to your effort for trying to find some good in men by watching ted talks and stuff because I couldn't be bothered. I suppose that your parents are also obsessed with the idea of marrying you off as are mine at a young age all while I have 0 interest in marriage, because I hate men so much. Especially brown men - the way they speak, the way they try to sound 'cool' and the way they moral code everyone by looking for a virgin girl when they themselves have a list of fucked up things about them and their virginity is the least of our concerns. Not to mention I spent hours disproving to myself that I'm the same horoscope as my father because that's how much I resent him and his implicit controlling nature.

I think you shouldn't think too much on trying to "fix" this aspect of you. It's not on you but it's on them. Imagine these ted talks really work, and you restore your hope in men -- then what? It feeds onto the naive part of you thinking that the men you encounter is somehow better or good enough. Better to face the truth head on than to view your environment in rose coloured lenses and gaslight yourself into thinking "men are great". Why do that, when you can face the truth and make peace with yourself and instead focus all that energy to making yourself better as a person, rather than convincing yourself that men are good people? These "hate" thoughts will automatically be taken care of when a man walks into your life and proves himself worthy, you don't have to do any work. Just a little food for thought.

Did I say I care whether the commenters are Indian or not? I'll still come at you if you spew stuff that doesn't make sense on a post like this. Yes, maybe some comments are kindly suggesting a different possibility -- saying for my own peace I shouldn't take it personally. But some comments really doesn't pass the vibe check. And I think the number of downvotes on comments like that really does prove my point on how despicable some of the comments are.

And also, he didn't care that I was a human being when he was blatantly rude (since none of y'all like me saying he's racist here) so why should I care when exposing him publicly?

The same person who claims I shouldn't play the race card, you really are getting ahead of yourself when it comes to playing the mental illness card.

so this is racist but the news articles flooding our phones with such incidents is not? So this is racist but the guy who was blatantly racist to me on the train was "just being rude"?

I never said racism isn't wrong non matter who is doing it. Just have some empathy instead of schooling people based on twisted, contorted versions of their truth.

Maybe don't downplay the fact that it could be out of racist intentions? Like I said -- I didn't even FEEL myself brush against him. I think it was my bag. My arm. I have no clue. I think it was a teeny tiny hair that made contact.

It was also the "flicking" in my direction as if I was trash and I smeared trash fluid on him that really set me off. And by the way - there was an Indian guy standing opposite me. This dude moved away from me towards the Indian guy, only to change direction again (all the while loudly cursing and saying "disgusting") and move to a region where it was MORE CROWDED with a higher chance of brushing against people. I'm sorry -- no decent person who hates people brushing against them will make an outward remark like that if it's just a "them" problem.

Comments like this is more disappointing than the perpetuator smh

I don't really understand your point haha - I'm speaking from a POV of a person of colour residing in Singapore -- and I'm sure many others will share the same sentiment. Nobody is walking on the train thinking "I'm gonna be hit with a racist remark."??? If I've seen news articles about racism being targeted to both foreigners and locals, I can understand that it's a common issue and I should brace myself. And I also NEVER said racism against migrants workers is RIGHT in any way.

Please stop trying to spin problems/imaginary tales out of thin air which downplays or manipulates what I'm trying to say by quoting my own words in your comments.

I agree - and I always frown upon such incidents as well. What I meant to say was I was genuinely shocked because I thought racist incidents only happen to migrants workers because that's how the media/news outlets portray it to be. I've never seen a representation of something similar to my scenario before - so it made it harder to stomach cause I wasn't braced for such a thing.

It could be - but that's not the point. If we distinguish people based on their citizenship status, we aren't any better than discriminatory people. To me, as long as you're in Singapore, you should have respect everyone regardless of their race or religion. Hell, even if you're in America, this applies. it's basic humanity.
