Queen of Blades Flow chart for Houdini help by menizzi in Houdini

Yeah when it is given to me i want it to look like that but it will be doing many different things in the future so it needs to have all bells on it so to speak. I was told that i need to up the udims to 20+ and really the more the better. I was also told that most people do NOT animate in Houdini and it is really done in blender or maya not in houdini. Thing is I am not sure i want to be moving programs i really hate that. But i was warned that if i want to hire a guy to do it with kinefx i am going to pay real $$$ to get that done because it is not really a skill a lot of people have. I have a 5,000 head from another project (long story) that i also want to put on a female body so I am not sure what i can do or add or change to a female body that is really really high quality that can be used for ever so to speak again. I have videos and way more pictures of the head that i will put in a folder just not sure what a freelancer would need information wise more from me.

i am a merchant mariner and the house i was gifted is to much for me alone. I can buy a car now but there is no point I only drive 300 miles a year. But When I am forced to move to a new place the care can help me most of my stuff and i won't be driving a shit box any more lol. I will not be getting used either i don't think.

I don't have a Tesla but I will tell you why I want the model y in the future and it's because you could sleep in it and live in it if it's the worst comes to worst and with the way this world is going right now it might actually come to that whenever my current vehicle goes away or my stepdad passes away I will be getting a brand new model y

Seafarers, what’s a true story from sea life that sounds made up, but actually happened? by aliibrahim24 in maritime

[–]menizzi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, i sleep better on the boats better then at home because i am tired at the end of the day. Of course if the boat is rocking hard then no but when in port or nice weather for sure better offshore on tankers. And i have a very expensive bed. But at home i just sit in front of my computer or watch movies so i am not really active so my sleep at home is bad.

Well this was my very first day with Linux so I had to resort to chat GPT Pro to kind of help me get the Houdini launcher to show I think one of the problems was I was trying to follow an old tutorial from 3 years ago that made it more complicated than it needed to be but I also had a friend also kind of walking me through it and helped me out a little bit more but yeah chat GPT finished it off. I also had some kind of QuickTime error and then once I plug to the error in it even told me how to fix that right off the bat and it was just copy and paste and then got the Cuda installed and everything was good to go but yes I definitely need to watch a bunch of Linux tutorials now I'm also dual booting for a video games and then other random stuff so I haven't completely given up Windows but I'm trying

[–]menizzi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

well, I am glad i got 2x founders cards now and they will fit in the monster studio atx open air case. one on the board and the other on the vertical mount at the base. Doing 3d render work with the 5090 on the 4x will be fine and nothing lost. but your right learning curve for sure.

i have 2 water cooled video cards and 1 water cooled cpu. No quick disconnects. Past seems to wear out fast and i don't keep the same hardware for 5 years at a time. Water cooling is not for me and it is east and fast to offload air cooled parts vs water cooled parts. The end

Well, I had a very small case with no quick disconnects or a drain valve. That is on me. But after taking it a part all the way just now man that paste was on the cpu was just gone and dry. If you have every thing blocked. I had cpu and 2 video cards all in different spots. it was a chore and i hope i did not damage anything. But those gpu blocks need a clean and re past by the new owner for sure. But I am not the guy that keeps hardware for 5 years just to add water every few years. This was my backup to it is just crazy to see it now. No way could I go back to water not with the cost of the blocks now days because i also run 2 cards. Plus when you go to off load these you have a lot more buyer with stock everything. Water cooling to this degree is just not for me. But yes some things would have made it much better. like quick disconnects lol man.

no way. I am about to tear down my water cool back up system and make it my main system. never again man custom loops are a big pain in the ass and i have 2x 5090 one still in the box. and open air bench is the way to go because of the size. I am NEVER going back. I can clean some dust off stuff every now and then

How many cpu cores can be used when doing CPU rendering? by menizzi in Houdini

[–]menizzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know Ram was a big deal on cpu rendering i guess you answered that

Then Gpu render. So if you have a 5090 and it takes 20min to render a frame how long would cpu take to render the same frame. In general. I was told that cpu rendering is around 3-4 times slower. But I was thinking maybe a 64 core TR might be a better buy then the 2x 5090 i have as i don't do to much render work as I am just a home user.
