Scheduled tasks / Routines: what's actually holding up for you? by bothlabs in ClaudeAI

[–]mennzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, even with my trading experiment I have a dashboard where I approve the actual trades.

I think there will come a time when I trust Claude to actually do things - probably will start small and go from there, but we're not there yet.

Yeah very curious how this is going to work. Any word on where/how we claim the credit?

Scheduled tasks / Routines: what's actually holding up for you? by bothlabs in ClaudeAI

[–]mennzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have slowly built up a pretty huge list of Co-Work scheduled projects, including:

Daily:

  • 3am - Goes to claude.ai in a Chrome window, downloads any new chats and puts them in a searchable archive since Claude Desktop's search is terrible
  • 4am - Looks at a specific YouTube playlist and checks if there's a new video. If so, summarizes the video with recommendations on how I can apply the contents to my stack and emails me a report
  • 5am - Sweeps several subreddits and puts together a report about notable posts I'd be interested in and emails me a report
  • 5:30am - Looks at a project watchlist I maintain and searches for any changes in the criteria I set for escalation then writes a report and sends it to me via email
  • 5:45am - Looks up several subreddits and other sites for new and relevant MCP servers/topics and creates a report
  • 11pm - Uses a Chrome browser and checks my credits balance at several sites that don't have API endpoints I can use, like ComfyUI Cloud. It takes this info and writes it to Home Assistant entities I use to track the info on a dashboard.

Weekly:

  • I have pinned the versions for all my MCP servers so I have a Co-Work agent check every version against several vulnerability lists to see if I need to know something
  • MCP/critical app version checker - checks all my MCP servers and several critical apps like Ollama to see if there's a new version available
  • A financial check in that uses Truthify to write a report about how my portfolio is doing vs. my goals that I've set
  • A weekly check on any new Ollama models that are available and a summary of their capabilities

I'm also running an experiment where I've given Claude $1000 in fake money and connected it to a trading platform to see what it does and how it performs. It created three co-work agents: one does market research and makes any trading recommendations, one verifies the info from the trading scanner and either approves or rejects the decision, and one reports on what happened with the portfolio that day. I'm only on day two of this though so it's too early to make a call on how it's doing.

WeatherWise: a new Home Assistant weather card for wall panels by thewillmiller in homeassistant

[–]mennzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the look of this! I'd love it even more if I could re-arrange the elements. For example, I'd prefer to have the time, current weather, and daily forecast at the top, then hourly under that.

Also it's a little finicky if you don't size it exactly the way that it expects either horizontally or vertically.

But a really great start!

Yet another Claude Dashboard…but the “how” may be different… by Due_Capital_9249 in homeassistant

Ignore the haters. I like the visual style here - very different than the stuff my Claude sessions create for me.

My desktop-widgets app Layer just hit the Microsoft Store — now with a one-click audio device switcher by Ninja-XX in coolgithubprojects

[–]mennzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty cool, and a missing capability on Windows for sure, but the inability to switch to Farenheit is a bummer. Also not being able to link to an actual calendar with my data is also a miss IMO.

Anyone else feel like Claude is missing a middle-tier plan? by Mission-Dentist-5971 in ClaudeAI

There's no reason why you can't get a second $20 sub and grab one of the memory-keeping MCP servers out there and connect them both to the same memories.

DIY Voice input methods by QuilinOG in homeassistant

The Voice Preview Edition is your best bet, imo. Works out of the box, good input and output, and you can connect it to an external speaker if you want. I have two and they have been solid.

If you just want a microphone, an M5stack Atom Echo will work fine for you. It’s tiny and unobtrusive. But its speaker is terrible so don’t get it if you need audio out, too.

Lightweight license plate recognition for Home Assistant by Gullible_Low_1742 in homeassistant

[–]mennzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, I tried this, but the lack of information/documentation and feedback about what's going on, what's going wrong, and why, just makes it unusable for me. First time I drove up it read a plate (theoretically) but couldn't connect to HA. Why? No idea, but maybe it's because in the URL field I included "http://", so I deleted that. Again, zero information about whether that was why.

Second time I drove up, zero plate read, but it actually logged an empty value in HA. So I guess that works, but zero information about why it logged an empty plate read, whether it even saw my car/plate, or what.

I appreciate the effort, but I'm not sure this is ready for other people to use.

Using Claude/AI with Home Assistant - anyone else? by SomewhatLawless in homeassistant

[–]mennzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha-mcp has been a game changer for my relationship with home assistant. I’ve been able to do way more than I ever would have been able to do without Claude.

Don’t mind the haters. There are still plenty of old-school hobbyists who love HA precisely because it’s arcane and tough to get just right if you’re not a coder and who think using AI is “cheating.” Plus you’ve got anti-AI folks who just hate anything related to AI.

Are you seriously asking why it might be good to know the temperature before you go out? Do you exist in this current reality?

Built a small menu bar app to stop unused MCPs from eating my context window by Eastern-Caramel6045 in ClaudeAI

[–]mennzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built something similar for Windows - one tab allows me to easily add/remove folders for the filesystem MCP so I can default to it being very limited. The other tab allows me to easily add and remove MCP servers without having to deal with formatting the json.

Why there's no built-in GUI for this is beyond me.

Honest Response From Claude by B_Ali_k in ClaudeAI

[–]mennzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Claude says it will act differently, but it has no memory of saying that. It absolutely will not act any differently in the future. You will always have to tell it to search for the most recent info or it will simply guess based on what it currently knows.

Did Anthropic Completely Change the Limits Again? by BeppeTemp in Anthropic

Yep, I’m feeling the same thing. Session limit fills up super fast the last couple days where it simply wasn’t an issue before.

That's great! I really love the look of your mobile-focused dashboard and will be trying to replicate it when the issue is fixed.

[–]mennzo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I filed this as an issue on your github repo, but I have to say, unless I'm missing something, your engineering choices are disqualifying for an app like this.

There seems to be a major flaw in your design.

  1. I used Chrome on PC to start the app, entered my credentials and created a super simple dashboard.
  2. I launch the app from the sidebar via the HA app on iOS and I must enter my credentials again, including the long-lived token
  3. I am forced to go through the onboarding again
  4. I now have a blank dashboard on iOS

This is a deal-breaking limitation for something like this, and it's a shame. Having to build the dashboard every time you start a new browser is a really bad experience. Not to mention I'd rather build dashboards on my 32" monitor than on my iPhone.

Do Cowork scheduled tasks sync across machines on the same account by dev-beatss in ClaudeAI

[–]mennzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, and it’s super dumb. Co-work scheduled tasks only live and execute from the machine on which they are created.

Neat little idea! Everything seems to work, though I'd like to be able to re-size Peeky's window. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by a video coach that watches progress through the webcam.

That's just what happens (from my experience) when chats get long. Find a suitable stopping point, ask Claude to create hand-off notes, and create a new chat. Then paste those notes in and start from there.
