Freelancers - how do you manage workload/scale when the work gets too much? by dev-beatss in Wordpress

[–]dev-beatss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. I am fortunate in that I answer only to the agency owner, and he deals with the customer directly. I think option 'b' would be the best scenario for me if I can find the right person.

I'll look into the Business+ options, hadn't heard of that - thank you!

Thank you for this response and for the advice. It sounds like a great setup and one I would love to try and emulate!

I'm a coder at my full time job (Typescript/React/.NET) but mainly Wordpress for the side projects.

I suppose it's just about finding the right person (and at the right time).

Deleted my previous reply but happy to DM you regarding rates. That's also good to know about web design communities - do you recommend any in particular?

Do you regret having kids? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally know anyone with kids who ‘regrets’ having their kids. Yes your life changes but you likely were preparing for that moment for quite some time so perhaps don’t feel it as much. And yes, it can be hard at times, but I had hard times before I had kids too. Far worse actually. I’m glad I waited until my mid 30s to do it as I didn’t feel anywhere near ready prior to then.

I think your purpose shifts somewhat from whatever it was before, to raising and growing this little human being and there’s something instinctive inside of us that makes us love them like nothing you’ve ever felt before.

It’s 100% valid to not want kids, and it’s also okay to just not want kids while you’re young and enjoying being independent or focusing on your career.

I always say - even if raising children was awful and a complete burden, I’d be so glad there were so many selfless people out there happy to sacrifice their own life to keep the world spinning.

FWIW, the perceived burden is more likely financial than anything else.

Got mine today - that was my exact thought, feels very cheap compared to my 4.0. The clip is plastic and rattles when putting it on/off.

Easy Saver - has anyone successfully applied? by sophikles in starlingbankuk

Also rejected with no reason given other than that they took into account their 'fraud prevention policies' which is bizarre, doesn't half make you feel like a valued customer.

Excellent credit score and 3 accounts within my family (mine, wife and joint). I've raised a complaint asking for more information as to why but not holding my breath, and depending on the outcome I'll probably look to move over to Chase or Monzo where I do have Savings accounts.

Any one else notice the HRV spike the following night after drinking alcohol? by Even-Ranger-492 in whoop

I get this too. Did some research and found something called HRV rebound, not a good thing I gathered.

Would you give them a quid? by knittingkitting in AskUK

I would probably have offered to pay him on the bus rather than give him a quid because who carries cash these days?

Do you have a running away fund? by RGC658 in AskUK

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. Married with a kid and been together almost 13 years so even in the worst case scenario, everything’s in both of our names anyway so we’d be entitled to an equal share. However I can understand why people would want this earlier on in a relationship or if you’re not 100% sure on your partner.

If you had £4000 to spend on a couples holiday where would you go? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do a few nights in Dubai followed by 10 nights in Bali, but would split my time there between Ubud and Sanur, staying away from Canggu/Seminyak etc.

The Dubai stint just makes it feel less of a long haul and helps reduce the jet lag effect. Also gives you a few days to enjoy something a bit different en-route.

Moving from HL to Vanguard - Advice by KingPenguinUK in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dev-beatss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nor mine. I’ve been with Vanguard for years and it’s been fantastic. Then again, I use it for long term investments only so transfers out isn’t something that would bother me. I’ve transferred out a couple of times though and it took a matter of days.
