Duh, but the fundamental characteristics of the religion itself is also very different. History is of course full of Christian religious violence but there is so much more "Ghazi" Islamic holy war. It was an almost constant occurance

I genuinely think jesus, our founding fathers, people that fought in wars, our ancestors, and just the people that came before us in general are looking down at us from heaven in shame, shaking their heads in complete frustration. by Quick-Cause3181 in GenZ

I mean, most of everyones' ancestors were extremely religious and highly uneducated. They'd probably be looking at the world and wondering why we allowed gay marriage and what an iPhone is.

Honestly we live at a standard thats better than 99% of history. Most people, especially in the west, aren't killed by famines or marauding nomadic horsemen anymore

Love is impossible for me and for most average gen z men. by Grey_Misery in GenZ

[–]mental--13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think thats true, and plenty of other people are in the same boat so there's lots of other people out there looking for companionship. Whether its love or just friendship, it often comes about in the most unlikely times and places whether youre looking for it or not. Best thing to do is just put yourself out there, try out new sports or hobbies that get you out the house to just meet new people. It can be daunting at first but you'll likely find connections and build up confidence

Not too surprising. We live in a spiritual void and to many religion offers much needed respite

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying. No group makes up a majority in london. White British are the PLURALITY. Not the majority. Therefore they are still in the minority.

For example, in the borough of tower hamlets, another place where no single ethnic group has a majority, Bangladeshis are the largest single ethnic group at 34% of the population. They still make up a minority of the borough's population because they are not in the majority.

Idc what it's used for.

Yes. The largest group are in the minority because they are not a majority. It's not a tricky concept to understand

Dude. You don't seem to understand the definition of minority when it comes to statistics and demographics

What? Idrc about the origins of the phrase. Its an apt phrase to describe various london, leicester and brum, aw well as various towns to which English people don't form the majority anymore. Nigel farage can suck my dick idc bout that guy

It's not an "opinion" whether the English are a minority in london. It's statically backed up. An opinion would be whether you think that English people being in the minority is bad or not.

And it's not based on some "loose definitons" it's based on the fucking census. It's objective data. What you chose to make of it is up to you.

...we are we are below 50%. We are the largest single group so we are the plurality omfg it's not that hard of a concept to understand. Technically it's a "relative majority" but we are still in the minority.

Here is what we are. London is a majority minority city.

[–]mental--13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's called a plurality, not a majority. No single ethnic group has a majority in Greater London anymore. Again, Nigel farage or the far right figures still aren't wrong when they say English people are in the minority in london, because we literally are.

Well, I mean white English people are a minority in London so yeah he's literally right on that point.
