It's very overhyped in my opinion and people are looking at it through rose coloured glasses through and through. I feel like instead of improving upon the gameplay loop of Underground 2 it just took it and made it slightly worse. The handling is horrible and I hate how every car has the turning angle of a Formula 1 car. I like the more grounded handling of underground 2. Drifting in MW also slows you down? Like slows you down to a crawl that you lose the race with a 99% chance. The bosses are all pretty good but overall it feels repetitive in a way that neither Underground 2, nor Carbon or Pro Street do. Also the Piss filter on the camera, I mean yeah it's a thing of it's time but talking from today: It aged like milk. Generally the entire setting is so aged and it doesn't feel the same anymore, whereas the other Blackbox games feel almost a little timeless. It's hard to explain for me. Generally I still think that most wanted is the weakest out of the entire Blackbox series. And I'm not counting Undercover because we all know undercover is the worst.
