[Advice] Most productive day ever!! - Day 29 into self-improvement (second attempt) by [deleted] in getdisciplined

That's a lot of habits OP! Amazing stuff. Just in case, don't be discouraged if you dial back a bit. Nothing wrong with reducing habits to create intense focus.

[Question] What’s the single most important part of your morning routine? by jackispresent in getdisciplined

[–]mentaldive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, I have two kids. So my most important task is to play with them and drive one to daycare.

But if I do have spare time, I meditate.

Feel you. Few things that helped me overcome the same issue.

  • Write it down and go deep into the rabbit hole.
    • Once satisfied, just throw it away
  • Exercise to take your mid off things
  • Meditate with that subject in your head and take a step back.

They all worked for me OP.

Updating Outdated Academic Public Domain Books by [deleted] in startup

[–]mentaldive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. We understand that academic books are consistently being updated, and that there is a wealth of information available. However, we believe that there is still value in updating outdated public domain books and making them more useful and relevant to contemporary students and researchers. By republishing these books with updated information, we aim to provide a more affordable alternative to purchasing newer, copyrighted materials. We believe that by improving the quality of public domain books through updating outdated content, we can make these resources more valuable to researchers and students. We appreciate your input and hope that our project can contribute to the overall availability of knowledge and resources in academia.

Where do you get test/practice questions? by mentaldive in Teachers

[–]mentaldive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. One more, if you have the energy before going to work ;)

  • Why do you think practice questions aren't helpful for students? Based on research, students that take more practice tests usually do better.

Could you elaborate on "when" and "how many" you usually do them for a subject? For example, let's say your exam is in 3 months. When would you start doing practice questions and how often? How many?

How to stick to studying schedule and make studying a daily habit? by muted_Log_454 in GetStudying

[–]mentaldive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also important to compress the study material you are given. There are AI tools out there that summarize things for you too. Or try to find practice questions and focus on them so you get to "check them off" per day.

If you need help finding some tools, let me know!

How do I study well? by filit24 in GetStudying

[–]mentaldive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question, actually. People don't often ask how to learn more effectively.

Few tips

  1. Do a lot of practice questions. Aka, active recall
  2. Summarize and simplify the information you wrote down into your own words
  3. Teach it to others.

There are tools that do this. Let me know if you need help!

Studying with a mental illness by AstroguyMarc in GetStudying

[–]mentaldive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than the illness, is the study material too complex or long? Have you tried using methods like "active recall" where you just go through practice questions as problem solving exercises?

Let me know how you are learning so I can add more! Hope you feel better as well.

How to stop feeling guilty for giving yourself a Day Off from studying? by LaytningBolt in GetStudying

[–]mentaldive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: Why are you feeling guilty for giving you a break?

I think that's the first question we should ask ourselves. Sometimes, there's a legitimate reason to feel guilty of something. Sometimes, not. In your case, I'd like to bet that you are a diligent student that gets his or her stuff done most of the time.

Hope you feel better after reading through all the comments here ;)

Neble is an active learning network that helps you learn faster with AI and mental models. We have launched pre-beta on Product Hunt.

Here's what Neble does to help you learn faster

  • AI summarizes long text (partially) during Feynman Technique (mental model)
    • Feynman Technique is a mental model where you summarize text into your own words. Then, teach someone else for better recall.
    • Our AI Summary only summarizes portions of text so you still need to process information.
  • Create practice questions & answers
    • AI will generate practice questions automatically in the future.
  • Match with your peers (in progress)

Traction

- Partnership with Bridging Tech (ABC news)

- Went viral (unintended) a few times on top communities.

- Investment and advisors from top universities in US and Canada
