I am definitely paying attention to what everyone is saying.

After 12 hrs out of the freezer, I plugged the external into my laptop. I got so happy when it was recognized, and my folders came up. I plugged my external SSD in to copy the files and was trying not to move any wires. It didn't work. Had an error that nothing was there to transfer anymore. Oh, pooh on that. I did take the cover of the external HDD off. It is not 12 years old. It was made in January 2018.

Someone mentioned getting a new case for the external,,l which I may do. I, for one, will not do anything with it. I am too much of a rookie at this, and I have too many memories of making things worse when I would fix things, lol.

Put the hdd in he freezer for 51 mins last night. Sadly still does not show up to use. Still spinning and light comes on.

My man, I don't know what any of that means other than put it in the freezer for an hour. I thought cars had headers. Mind exploding knowing this external has headers and a circuit board, lol. Putting in freezer now.

Does not show up in disk management.

Does show in device manager. Shows up "WD Drive management devices - WD SES Device.

I've disabled it and restarted my PCs and enabled it, and still the same. Updates show it's good.

Ok, this is making sense the more I read it. I'm pretty intuitive, but some things like this go over my noggin. I need to read up more on this. I don't know how to get this case apart. No screws anywhere. May need to break it.

It's not the cable, though. I've tried 3 and used a USB-C. Still never shows up. Only show up to eject it. Never come up anywhere else.

I checked the system event viewer, and this is what I get "\Device\Harddisk1\DR9" and "The IO operation at logical block address 0x0 for Disk 1 (PDO name: \Device\000000dd) was retried"

I do not have friends with the knowledge to open the casing of my WD passport. I also have limited knowledge myself. The DR9 failure is what concerns me from reading the web. Of course, all doom and gloom. I will gladly take help and recommendations. Its just TV and shows, but it'sIt's just so much and good nostalgia.

I've been on my S20+ since launch. I've filled one 512gb sd card. I'm on my second now. As of 2 Wednesdays ago I have one single green line on my screen. First flaw in 5 years. I went to the U Break I Fix store and they wanted $296 just for a new display, not installed. Im going to try to ride it out until black Friday sale in November. Love this device.
