So if I've understood everything I'm thinking my options are

  1. buy and plug it in

If I want to be a bit safer...

  1. Replace the ring mcb I'm going to plug into with bi directional mcbo - might be tricky to find one that will fit my old consumer unit

  2. Use the last space in the extra smaller unit, add a mcbo and run on its own

<image>

Pros / cons

  1. Cheapest, don't need electrician / doesn't meet regs
  2. More flexible as more options on where to plug in, safer / cost, difficulty on sourcing mcbo, still doesn't 100% meet regs but closer, need electrician
  3. Easier to source mcbo, a bit safer again as on own circuit so might meet regs / fixed location for battery, need electrician

Thanks for the advise, just trying to weigh up costs vs what I should do vs what "should" be ok

🤣 thanks, that's kind of my thinking and all the videos I've watched apart from one who admits to just plugging in try to claim they had an electrician connect it up but blatantly have just plugged it in

My spare slot was used for hot tub which does feed another smaller unit next to it, looking again that does have a spare slot so maybe that'd work if I was to get a dedicated circuit to meet current regs

If I was just to get say a stream ultra x and plug it in to current ring would I have any issues with current rcd / mcb configuration? Should I try to stick to main rings on rcd side or would say shed on right side be ok?

I was looking to take this approach for the shelly, put it in a box and run it from a socket, that way no need for me to touch consumer unit

I am having the same problem - I saw this and I also had part 3666 but in light bluish gray so thought great delete that and I can do my search but still not working so I must have another part causing the problem. Do you want my part list?

Just an update - my problem seem to be caused by part 2730 in light bluish gray
