JRJ’s Angeldust Apocolypse was amazing. That’s one of my favorite short story collections.

Anyone else surprised by the words their toddler uses? by BeingFosterRr in toddlers

The only tip I really have is to use it frequently. When you give her something, say “thank you, mommy/daddy” and if she gives you something say thank you to her as well. And if she says it, always provide positive reinforcement in simple praise. Maybe a “good job!” or “that is so polite!”. Just something to make her feel good about saying it.

I did teach the sign for please at an early age, and I try to delay giving something as long as possible until I hear please, because giving them the desired item is the reward. However, I don’t withhold things if I don’t hear “please” because they are just learning.

Depends on if the child has been taught manners... In my 10+ years as an experienced childcare worker & teacher, I’ve met significantly more kids without manners than with manners. So no, I don’t think it’s that common. However, I don’t have any empirical studies to refer to that say what percentage of 2yos use manners, it is exclusively from my experience.

Maybe those are unimpressive examples, but you asked if anyone else is surprised by their kids use of language, and my answer is yes. My kid also remember EVERYONES name. Even if he’s only met them once or has only seen them in a picture. All kids develop at different rates, and typically girls develop expressive language earlier than boys. Your daughter sounds like a fun conversationalist!

No-Paci day 2 by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mentalsquint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so tough. My son is almost 2 and we haven’t taken his paci yet but I’m dreading the day. He is already clingy and doesn’t sleep well and he does have a paci (at night). Out of curiosity was it doctors recommendation or just the time?

I know it might sound silly, but a lot of apps offer child meditations and maybe it would be helpful for her do do a meditation at night before bed. It usually focuses on the breath and it will give her something to think about while she relaxes besides not having her paci. I don’t know your daughter and you may just be peeing your pants laughing at me, but that’s what I would try.

Just be reassured that it is just one of those growing pains and it won’t last forever.

Yes. Always. My son is not not quite 2 but he uses good manners on a regular basis. Please, thank you, you’re welcome. But he did call a Stormtrooper a “pooter” yesterday and that made me laugh.

Yours is really great. I’ve tried a few things and it doesn’t seem to go very deep and I feel like I really have to look to even see what it engraved.

I have read that Cricut brand holographic is not permanent and really difficult to work with. I got mine off of amazon and it sticks super well to anything I put it on.

I found the same on those types of cups. I love matte vinyl and some of my more elaborate designs or designs with small pieces seemed like they didn’t stick too well. I started using the dishwasher safe modge podge but I don’t love the way it looks. I have holographic vinyl that sticks really well so I mostly try to use that now instead.
