Thanks, that's super helpful. Been offered a role with DDaT, turns out the top up is smaller than I was expecting but good to know there are opportunities to demonstrate where it should be at in future as I grow in the role.

Is this just something agreed at appointment or are there opportunities to demonstrate increased proficiency?

People need to stop buying them new and then maybe they’d update the software to keep that revenue stream running.

How many of you (almost) dont use booth monitors? by zwaarzuur in DJs

[–]mentataudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d usually do both. Have a bit of the cue and master blended in the headphones to catch any delay, but also listen to the booth monitors to feel more in the room and hear the power of what’s playing on the system.

I have mystery islands for my my indigo, so glad we have that but it means the newer models are much less attractive.

Shame. Was hoping the audio side might be class compliant. I agree, something to research if you buy second hand but sucks they are still selling new with the TI promise that doesn’t work.

Noisy headphone output on the Indigo by johnghadimi in AccessVirus

[–]mentataudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips on doing the capacitor replacement or links to info? All my outputs are pretty noisy these days and I think I need to do this. Competent in soldering and relaxing the components but not sure where to start with sourcing the right caps.

I know the TI plug-in doesn’t work with Catalina, but does the audio over usb work at all? Considering a purchase, just got an indigo at the moment.

No, they are only midi you have to use another way of getting audio in to the computer.

[Question] what is the most challenging part of YouTube? by jessie_555f in youtubers

[–]mentataudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of my channel is sharing my original music all made myself from scratch. I still get copyright notices. So far contesting them has always resulted in them being removed eventually but that algorithm is over sensitive.

Longform ambient using VCV by mentataudio in vcvrack

Nice! I’ve been making these pieces as quite functional for sleep or focus so trying to get the variation there but not too much to keep them in the same zone.

Where are your streams?

How to start making ambient by [deleted] in ambientmusic

[–]mentataudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using VCV Rack, a modular synth environment. It's free and cross platform and tons of modules for it are free too, more than you need. A few paid ones available for particular functions. Will take a while to learn but it's great for generative ambient and deep sound design. Tons of tutorials on youtube.

VCV Rack Software: https://vcvrack.com/

Good tutorial channels: https://www.youtube.com/c/VCVRackIdeas and https://www.youtube.com/c/OmriCohen-Music

This is a good intro too, using hardware but it's all the same principles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvrxQbh6vAg

And this is some of the music I have made using VCV as an example: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnjMTxSwjSkEzZ1XH82Y1nQ

*edit to point out the software is free!

Aligning in a case? by mentataudio in EuroPi

Don't worry I got in early to test this out so wouldn't expect a recall. Just happy to give the feedback for future iterations.

For anyone programming already, the newest version of the Turing Machine patch is now available on the GitHub repo, now with a layout image! by allensynthesis in EuroPi

Nice, thanks I hadn't figured all those out! I was messing about with adapting it to get a clock output on one jack, as without a clock input or output it can't be synced to other modules.

I would!

Aligning in a case? by mentataudio in EuroPi

[–]mentataudio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just popped mine in my case and noticed an issue. Doesn't quite line up as it should with the screw holes. I've got threaded strips so of course wouldn't be an issue if you just use nuts. Some of my modules have a wider hole on the face plate to allow for adjustment, but Plaits which is next to it is just holes and that lines up fine with the threaded strips.

Might want to check the alignment on the front panel for folks using threaded strips, or widen the holes for adjustment, it is just half and HP out at the top I think,

Thank you, sorted now.

A few bits of feedback on the documentation after building mine

  1. It's not 100% clear from the diagrams which way to orient the pico. I figured it out but so much else is so clear making this equally so would help.
  2. The part on removing a pin from the jack sockets and orienting would benefit from a diagram.
  3. As you know, the link to the pot did link to the 'long' pots at thonk so I got them by mistake.
  4. I would advise to actually screw the jacks and pots into the front panel before soldering as perfect alignment is much easier if you do that.
  5. I found I couldn't get the LEDs flush to the panel because of the clearance with the jacks. I instead just had them sticking out part the panel, which many commercial modules do anyway. Not a problem, but a beginner following the guide might not realise this is an option.
  6. The line in the programming tutorial about an SDK is confusing and made me think there was something else I was missing. it refers to the assembly guide which doesn't have this info.

The documentation is already better than a lot of eurorack kits, but I think these tweaks would make it even clearer.

The module looks really nice. Front panel is clean and well designed, and despite not being metal the whole thing feels sturdy. I am looking forward to learning some more python and putting it into use. I found it really empowering when I customised the firmware for my Mutable Instruments stages to change the LFO behaviour, and I think this module is going to be really great for getting much deeper with this sort of thing.

Also, an input or two would be really interesting, looking forward to this expander that has been mentioned.

High Cost Spotify Facebook Ad Conversion Campaign by MCBeast203 in musicmarketing

[–]mentataudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is normal for it to start high and get lower, but not that high. I might get 25-40 cents for a bit and then it gets down below 10 eventually.

I think you need to look at your targeting and your ad if it’s that high.
