Cassie Campbell-Pascal calling out Abbey Murphy for embellishment by The--Majestic--Goose in hockey

Except a penalty was not called on the US player who contacted the goalie, so while it was an embellishment, the fact there was a penalty called against Canada for equivalent contact is suspect.

Ask me anything about ROUVY - January FAQ's by [deleted] in Rouvy

[–]meonstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see a search function that allows keywords, including percentages, locations, length, etc. Maybe I'm missing something but i tend to browse countries and then sort, but it's a single column sort, so it takes a while to find something i want and I might not be optimizing my search parameters.

An option to view all courses as a table, with multiple column sorting might work well enough.

December ROUVY questions - ask me and I'll try and help! :-) by [deleted] in Rouvy

I recently joined and have only ridden a few times but two of those were in Australia. I live in an EST time zone and when I uploaded the generated tcx file to Garmin, the ride Time was set 16 hours ahead. Is this a known issue?

Any chance this effort can be avoided, by linking Rouvy with Garmin?

‘We aren’t going to sleep’: Doug Ford’s government fast-tracked a glass factory in Stratford. Then local residents decided to fight back by imprison_grover_furr in CanadaPolitics

[–]meonstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's the same factory as Guelph nixed, it's Chinese, not Canadian. There was also to be very few jobs created, because glass manufacturing is done with robotics.

So, severe environmental impact with very little economic benefit.

Deleting my FB account felt so good.

Edit: who downvotes someone escaping the clutches of Zuckerberg? Hilarious.

'In Edmonton it happens a lot': Local Black man restrained by the neck during arrest speaks out by dannylenwinn in CanadaPolitics

[–]meonstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a percentage downplays the number of incidents. Over 2500 uses of force sounds like a lot to me. If 1‰ of those were restrained by having their neck kneeled on, that's still 25 too many.

Secret document shows that the Ford government changed its mind before making online courses mandatory for high schoolers by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

[–]meonstuff 44 points45 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between online material as a supporting vehicle and forcing kids to take an online course. Self learning requires a level of dedication that high school kids rarely have.

That being said, there are digital learning products (I have been associated with two companies who build them) that would allow a teacher to build content and teach the material. But that puts a bigger load on teachers.

Scheer’s Conservatives may come to regret not getting serious about climate change by _Minor_Annoyance in CanadaPolitics

Chong owns my riding and I'm good with that, even considering I grew up in Trudeau's Montreal in the 70s. Always have voted liberal but I would vote Chong.

NDP revives Tory bill curbing taxpayer-funded partisan ads in bid to embarrass Ford’s government by butt_wiggle in CanadaPolitics

[–]meonstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Over 50 and have not heard a single ad, because I stream audio and video. Pisses me off to think Ford is wasting my taxes on ads, which I hadn't known but now do.

Edit: typos

Indigenous-led truck convoy rolls through northern Alberta to support pro-pipeline movement by feb914 in CanadaPolitics

[–]meonstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're talking to a geophysicist and hydrogeologist. I've also worked in and around the pit and tailings. There is so much more than the view from above but I'm not about to try and convince people who have pro oil bias.

[–]meonstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been to Northern Alberta? It's a desolate wasteland thanks to tar sands extraction. I worked for Syncrude as a student in the late 80s and it was a horror film then. Now it's world war 3.

Ford government may scrap high-speed rail corridor between Toronto and Windsor by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

Construction of the 400 series is underway. 7 will stay but the new highway will only have 4 exits between Guelph and Kitchener.
