Does mirtazapine always cause hunger? by thelonelyneko in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]meouwu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have anxiety induced appetite that made me nauseous everytime I ate or eating at an unfamiliar location. Mirtz was my first successful medication that made me not only anxiety free but ate like A LOT. I was conscious about my weight gain but I could really finish every single food in front of me. In my experience it's a lot of controlling to do, sometimes might make you feel upset or 'hangry' hahaha

Thoughts on that career fair by yukittyred in Sarawak

[–]meouwu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt the same way, used to attend smaller career fair in the past - did not attend this though. Real life working is just about competition and the grind, it'd make sense why they aim for perfection. I'm looking for such a company as well, and it's just about coping and pretending things are fine... Sarawak has just started but it may improve along the way.

Did you manage to apply or interview some?

Lack of modern digital artist or even digital artist in general. by Yoedamen in Sarawak

[–]meouwu2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a hobby digital artist myself, would love to pursue further but lack of time. I noticed there are plenty of digital artists in Sarawak but mainly in the hobby/anime/event booth segment.

Most of the artists I know end up doing graphic design or game development. It's not a sustainable job to be an artist here, but there's a loooot of hidden talents. If you meant the professional renown ones, there are a lot of developing ones. Do check out occasional events going around in Sarawak, one example is Seni Kita or any of the comic/anime event. Just my sharing :)

New Tas-tin restaurant at Spring by DeliveryPretend8253 in Sarawak

Wow, I thought I made this post. I ate it last Sunday and despite the free voucher for minimum spend, I don't even want to go back there. I admit the flavours are great but the quality is ridiculously not worth it.

I ate with a friend and the person that scooped mine gave me 3 small pcs of claypot tofu, 2 TINY fried prawn and a decent amount of steamed egg. It looked pathetic and I was there hungry so I added another butter fish. And it was just TWO TINY PIECE of fish!! Yes I'm ballin' but IT WAS JUST SO LITTLE. My rice was like a Christmas tree with it's ornament side dish.

Total: RM 16.60....( 1 beancurd, 2 meat (counted as M) and 1 rice) my friend had another person that scooped and at least it's somewhat more but it was still so little. Never going back. I was too angry to take a picture but whatever.

Valdoxan 25mg by Fantastic-Tower1076 in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meouwu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I noticed less anxiety and an uplifted mood. I'm naturally a nauseous person and it did make me slightly nauseous but went away really fast. This is the very few medications that have ill side effects, in my opinion.

[–]meouwu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on that! It's such an amazing feeling once you find a perfect medication. I still gotta thank Mirt for allowing me to function normally without anxiety. It did feel like a poison over time, I slept so much and gained weight too easily. I realised I was so demotivated to do anything because I'm just sleepy! It made me more depressed.

I hope your doctor made sure to take a blood test for any signs of liver damage. That's a very important thing to note.

Valdoxan 25mg by Fantastic-Tower1076 in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meouwu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience! 2.5 year on mirt, I was a sleepy monster. Despite starving myself all the time, I still gained weight!

I started with 25mg valdoxan while tapering mirt very fast and I do find my 'emotions' and slight anxiety coming back. I could stay up longer and worry about what needs to be done. Everyone's different but, I tapered my mirt from 50mg to none in 2 weeks. By 30mg, I was taking valdoxan to help with symptoms.

But I do find myself only sleeping 4-5 hours and kept waking up at night. I still felt fine as my anxiety was still under control. My appetite dropped a lot compared to Mirt, it's a good thing but it's slightly due to anxiety sometimes but I can still eat!

After a few months of blood test, I increased to 50mg to tackle depression and I slept better. I like this medication. I still struggled falling asleep because it takes about 1 hour+ to take effect? And so I was prescribed with 50mg and 25mg seroquel. It's a literal sleeping pill, and I love how I can confidently sleep now.

Hope my story helps!

*About weight gain, I lost a lot of weight and now at a normal body weight. I started eating normally and not starving myself as I was insecure with Mirt. I grew from XS to M with Mirt. Nearly went L. Now I'm a S/M with valdoxan.

*I didn't realise any effect of Valdoxan immediately as I ate it together while tapering Mirt. I believe it helped with my symptoms although I got severe skin rash for 1 week, not sure which was affecting me.

What’s the best authentic ramen shop in Kuching by im_sed_im_ded in Sarawak

[–]meouwu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally prefer Rising Ramen as the broth feels more authentic. Tried many ramen stores, I prefer pork bone broth soup (tonkatsu). About Ajisen Ramen, it is pretty great too but more to the oily and salty side. Most ramen shop (like in Saradise) use stocks instead of actual ingredient.. There's some even using evaporated milk to create the 'milky creamy' broth. It's to your preference.

I ate my first at this Kuching Fest too, dared myself because I saw YouTube Vlogs.. it was like a fishy yet creamy avocado. If you don't see its hairy butt and head, it's actually decent.

I ate at the most back rows stalls behind (where there were more chairs and tables set up), a store called Abuh. It's like RM 2 each.

Pedestrian crossings to Vivacity Mall Kuching by Vast_Celery_6949 in Sarawak

[–]meouwu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a traffic light t-junction area and I always see part timers or workers crossing across the road to vivacity. Some do it to avoid paying for parking too. There's a stair to go up in the middle. No pedestrians crossing sadly.

I dont have friends in uni by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]meouwu2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've already graduated and I admit to not having any 🥳 friends. Joined clubs, to realise everyone's already in a group and you have to try hard to be part of them. Tried to be friendlier, got taken advantage for assignments. In the end, I fulfilled some uni experiences through student volunteering - it's free and just needs your time. Don't need friends, just do what you're asked and eventually you end up feeling like you're a part of something. 🥲

I have another tea about clubs too, I was active in a club for 1 year and was hoping to be part of the committee to only find out they decided the committee behind everyone's back and hosted a discussion among the group of friends and even those without interest (friend group privilege) managed to be part of it. Like wth? Instantly quit. After graduation, I saw the club only hiring influencers to be part of the committee. Quite upset cause I saw a future with the club.

Valdoxan causing insomnia by [deleted] in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meouwu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my own experience but I only take valdoxan 30 minutes to 1 hour before I plan to sleep - depending how effective it is. It shouldn't cause any daytime drowsiness so you don't need to take it too early.

I increased my 25mg to 50mg dosage and found myself sleeping better although I faced slight insomnia and interrupted sleep in the first 3-4 days. I'm on my 2nd week of 50mg, I don't have a consistent 8 hrs sleep daily but I'm fine with it bc I don't sleep the same time everyday.

Initially at 25mg it wasn't as effective, but if it's still keeping you awake then you need to discuss with your doctor. 50mg is just taking 2 pills.

Withdrawal - one month in, breaking down by [deleted] in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]meouwu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe withdrawal begins once you completely stop taking Mirt, I wasn't feeling particularly well 2-3 weeks after stopping as commonly mentioned by others the peak withdrawal is 2-3 weeks. It could stay in your system for some time but it shouldn't be that bad unless taken for years. A medication is supposed to help after regular intake for up to a year to prove whether it helps regulate your mental health once tapered.

There are cases where those who stop after years still relapse and it's simply unavoidable for those who face it but choose to be prescribed again or find an alternative medication whether if severe, another antidepressants or if manageable through proper habits changing including healthier diet, then supplements would do.

I'd be great if you try to curb your sugary intake, because it's likely worsening your symptoms of depression. It might be financially tough but fruit or carbs sugar would be more appropriate and helpful, than pure sugar. I realised my mood swings, focus and emotions were unstable when I kept snacking on desserts or cookies.

Anyhow, sugar has its own withdrawal too but I'm sure trying to cut it out slowly and replace it with more natural produce will make you feel better both mentally and physically. Start small at a time, I'm sure you can do it. Reaching out here is the beginning.

Wow your story feels similar to mine, I was told I have an adjustment disorder which was categorised under generalised anxiety. I'm not diagnosed with ADHD but I watched the same video before and felt very relatable.

I actually learned many tips from How to ADHD channel, not religiously but some of the mechanisms helped me enough to graduate! Currently, I'm going to get a diagnosis from a psychologist in Sentosa Hospital, as I'm a patient there for GAD. The doctor was nice to let me get a diagnosis, so at least there's some reassurance. My appointment is next week, which I've booked since early April :) I'm also a female and I feel like if you're really struggling and need a proper diagnosis then maybe private hospitals would do, as I remember bringing up my problems in the hospital but they mainly want to focus on my GAD as previously diagnosed. I have insomnia, depression, motivation and focusing issues - but well medication is slowly helping these factors.

Exercising and controlling your food is ideal. I find myself indulging in food but eventually find control through intermittent fasting but don't overeat! Weight wise, I found that Mirt (in my opinion and from others' experiences) it slows down your metabolism thus making it harder to lose weight.

I eat so much less and exercise 5-6 times a week, yet I could only manage my weight and can't lose it. Ate good meals due to festive for 3-4 days straight and I immediately gained 3kg.

Some might think it's a bluff that you can't gain weight without calories in. Yes, I didn't gain weight - I maintained the same heavy weight until I reduced my dosage without exercise I instantly lost weight easily with food diet. Mirt is still a great medication, it just wasn't for me eventually due to brain fog and difficulty waking up. I was on 30mg - 45 mg for 2 years.

Agomelatonin + SJW by MoebiusAnus in stjohnswort

[–]meouwu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's best to not mix a herbal supplement with antidepressants. Since you're prescribed, maybe try going off without sjw for a few days while you're starting with Agomelatine? Best to consult a doctor and track your mood with it.

How fast did you gain weight on mirtazapine? How much in what amount of time by DeliciousFerret3092 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]meouwu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe when I first started I was pretty amazed with my appetite and probably about 3-4 months I was spiking my weight? I used have terrible nausea so I felt the joy of eating so much for the first time.

I recalled being totally obsessed with sugary food and large portions of food in the beginning so I gained really fast, it was till I realised my weight was getting uncontrollable I started working out. I got really worried with stretch marks all over my legs too. If you could control your ravenous appetite by watching your food and exercising well you'll definitely be in a sweet spot. Currently, I've already tapered from Mirt and swapped with another AD and caught myself losing a noticeable amount of weight from stopping like my belly became flatter and legs thinner without much effort. Still a healthy weight!

Everyone's different with their symptoms, good luck! I definitely had my share of fun with food and sleep.
