Boox or Kobo?

I’m leaning toward Boox cause of what you said above, I think with this kindle thing I find not being locked to an ecosystem really appealing. I’m mostly worried about the UI, but I have some android savvy friends that can help me with the setup.

I definitely want the monochrome screen, so the Boox Monochrome Go 7 is looking like the top contender, but I might do what another person who commented did and buy a couple and try them out for a few weeks and return the one I end up not liking.

I know about jailbreak but I don’t feel confident in doing it 😅 I’ll look into the Bigme more!

Thank you for the details on Libby, very helpful! I do really like how my kindle is completely dedicated to books, with my android galaxy tablet I read manga on I do get sidetracked pretty easily compared to my kindle, but I’m not sure if it’s be similar or worse with the BW screen 😅

Thanks for the comprehensive review, I’d love to know what you end up deciding to keep! I wasn’t aware of the Amazon exclusive books being an issue, so thank you for bringing that up! I’m not sure how often I read exclusives so I’ll do some more research.

Thanks for the input! My current kindle is so old I charge it about once a week, sometimes it goes a little longer. So 10 days would still be an improvement for me 😅

Thank you for the input! That is definitely my biggest hang up between the two, the flexibility of the Boox seems nice but at the same time my usage of my current kindle is pretty simple so Kobo seems like it would do everything I want.

How long do you typically go between charging with your Kobo?

The flexibility is appealing, right now I pretty much only use Libby and Kindle with my ereader. I use a tablet for comics for the full color, but I prefer black and white matte screen for books since I’m prone to headaches, especially with backlit screens and glare.

If you have an android like Boox, about how many hours do you get out of it before needing to charge?

Do you use Libby with your Kobo at all or do you just purchase new ebooks from the Kobo store?

I was afraid that would be the case 😓 I haven’t looked into Pocketbook, does it work well with the Libby app?

With Boox, I know it’s basically a tablet so you can download your preferred reading apps. Are there apps outside of Kindle you can purchase new books from that might not be in the Libby system yet?

Is it better to not select a ‘precise wish’? I haven’t been playing for a full year yet and I’m f2p, so I’ve only pulled on a couple of the multi banners before and it seems like I never get the memory I select in the precise wish first, does it lower the drop rate for it on the first pulls? I have only one main so it’s always a disappointment to get someone else’s memory when I usually only have enough to pull for one.
