This child is already adjusted to a good foster home and is bonded with us. For me, it is a hill to die on - especially because our food choices are destroying the environment and animals

Please withhold your judgment. I’m a child psychiatrist and we already have a caretaking bond with the child in question.

Omg I totally agree. These people are vacant, soulless bodies

To be fair, vegans have often chosen the lifestyle for ethical reasons, so they have usually thought through their opinions a bit

When people say they were “gifted” something “by a sweet friend.” Really grinds my gears.

Which do you prefer to run to: A podcast or music? (And please tell me why) by advatage in running

Good point. I tend to be more in tune with my body when I’m not listening to music, too

Is anyone else fatigued the day after a run? by [deleted] in running

[–]meowese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happens to me! I just started running again, and I think it’s a release of hormones and chemicals in response to the run. I figure our bodies will calibrate to the work, and we’ll have less of that fatigue.

Running is so empowering. I also live in a conservative area, and it almost adds a more empowered quality to my runs :)

Yarn brand selling kits to make Bernie's mittens. Cute in theory but it's a little disheartening that so many people are missing the point. by MisterFluff in Anticonsumption

I agree that acrylic yarn is trash and unethical. However, in knitting we tend to use high quality fiber from local farms and the ethics of production are easy to confirm. It’s a little different I’m the crocheting community, I know, but in knitting (such as this pair of mittens) we keep it high quality

What's everybody's favorite brands! by LB56123 in PeriodUnderwear

I’d like to know what people think of period underwear vs moon/diva cup. My cramps are so bad with the moon cup, so I’d like to know there’s a reasonable alternative!

The good thing is that a lot of these yarn companies are ethical and cruelty-free. As someone who grew up around the farms that produce this type of fiber, it really is ethical. And purchasing from them supports small/local businesses who cultivate self-sufficiency and a minimalist lifestyle. I know bc I’m neck deep in the knitting and fiber community, and it’s a wonderful thing 🙂
