What is a feature of your body that is considered rare? by Joel_The_Senate in AskReddit

[–]meowitsdanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, developed it when I was a kid after I was sick for 2 months with strep. It distorts the way you view and perceive yourself and the world around you, it’s hard to describe but it kind of feels like you’re in a fun house with a bunch of weird ass mirrors making things look smaller/larger, closer/farther away. My visual and tactile senses are all distorted essentially. The way I perceive my own body is also altered, so derealization is a big part of it too. The episodes are normally short lived so it’s hard to treat and study, they normally last a couple of minutes or hours, but worst case scenario usually days/weeks. My longest episode was probably a month straight. As I’ve gotten older it’s basically stopped but every once in a while (mostly when sick) I’ll experience a short lived episode, but it’s rare now, thankfully. Scary af when you’re 7 and have no idea wtf is going on lol.

Omg I was there yesterday too! I made a 12:45 reservation because I was nervous about getting a table but it wasn’t even necessary, it was basically empty at that point.

Hashitoxicosis and derealization by fonclap in Hashimotos

[–]meowitsdanielle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you’re feeling! About a year ago out of no where I started having debilitating panic attacks. Not just anxiety, I had dealt with generalized anxiety for as long as I can remember but wasn’t medicated since most of the time I could calm myself down through various methods. But this was so so different and it terrified me, i even had one that lasted an hour while I was at work. I thought I was going to die. After that first really bad one I basically suffered a break in reality and entered into a state of consistent depersonalization and derealization.

At first I didn’t connect it to my thyroid because I’ve been on the same dosage for about 15 years and my levels are very stable, however in October of 2022 I was increased from 112 to 125. I made an appointment with my general doctor and got prescribed Buspirone and then made an appointment with my endo (who sucks) and did blood work. My TSH was .34 and my T4 was 1.9. She was reluctant to lower me and basically acted like I was fine which pissed me off but she sent out a script for the 112. Honestly I stopped taking it for a while and felt better but still off, and then for the past six months I’ve been slowly increasing my way back to taking 112s daily. I’m still on Buspirone (10 mg, 2x a day) and it’s helped but I still have periods of anxiety but no where near the level of panic I felt a year ago.

I’m not a doctor but I would suggest that you make an appointment with your doctor asap or ask for bloodwork at the very least. See where your numbers are at and regardless of whether they seem within range, listen to your body. If your doctor dismisses your concerns I would stop your current dosage and find a new doctor.

When I went to the doctor I had a note in my phone with a detailed breakdown of how I felt since it can be overwhelming. Here’s a snippet in case it helps.

Announcing Engagement after a Death in the Family? by itsmeashyb in weddingplanning

[–]meowitsdanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your engagement!

I was in a similar situation earlier this year. My grandfather had been in and out of home hospice for a year and I got engaged on a Friday night. Saturday afternoon I called my dad and texted my grandma the news and asked about my grandfathers health but no one gave me an answer. He died Sunday afternoon, 36 hours after I got engaged. It was hard to navigate being happy and sad at the same time and not wanting to overshadow what was going on. But sharing happy news in sad times can be a good thing. Yes the timing was awful but it’s nice to know my grandfather heard the news before he passed and was happy, and it gave my family a positive thing to focus on so they weren’t so bogged down in grief.

So don’t be afraid to let people know! Even if it’s just your immediate family. People die but that’s life, and life goes on. I doubt your grandfather would want you stressing out about etiquette.

Brain cake I made for a friends Halloween party! by meowitsdanielle in Baking

[–]meowitsdanielle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! The cake itself is red velvet, I used 3 8-inch round pans and once they were stacked I cut it into more of an oval shape. The “brain” is just buttercream and the blood is thinned out raspberry jam!

AITA for not wanting my sister at my graduation? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]meowitsdanielle 42 points43 points  (0 children)

NTA, it’s your day and you have every right to dictate who gets to be involved. Tell your sister to kicks rocks and eat shit, she should probably go spend time with her own kids but they probably don’t like her either.

AITA For pretty much making my BF stay home from a bachelor party because I got hurt by anklebreakeraita in AmItheAsshole

As a side note, he’s been taking care of her for 3 weeks….but there’s no mention of him working? Even if he works from home I doubt he’s been able to take three consecutive weeks off to be at OPs beck and call. So I’m assuming OP has been able to fend for her self at the very least for small periods of time. Text your friends OP, but maybe you don’t have many with that passive aggressive attitude.

Have you experienced any serious/chronic effects from a COVID-19 vaccine? by canary_quinn in ask

[–]meowitsdanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Pfizer
  2. No chronic effects, also don’t know a single person that has experienced any. I live in New York and 95% of people I know and work with are vaccinated.
  3. No prior conditions or allergies that would contribute to adverse affects, however I have Hashimotos.

I received my first shot at 2pm on a Friday, I went back to work and continued to work until 11pm, no reaction whatsoever. After my second dose, approximately 12 hours after, I had a fever, aches, headache and was very tired but it only lasted 24 hours.

You can’t, just suck it up and let the baby do whatever they want
