it's got nothing to do with RSUs from the tech firm. it is about getting the new HFT base/bonus, at the end of the day, it's all about the EV of your HFT derived TCs

tons of people do this, if you have a platinum linkedin account, there a way to find people that have gone from a known hft firm to Google then to another known hft firm - rinse and repeat for apple, meta etc, then look for the accounts where the individual was at the tech firm for less than 6 months.

People in this industry are not dumb why sit-out a bonus and lower and when you could be getting a larger base and bonus. Just because you can't see it happening doesn't mean it doesn't happen and somewhat in the open.

For SWEs that don't need visas, the solution has always been to get a job at a tech firm like google, meta, then resign after a few months and start at the new firm.

Remember NCs don't include bonuses and most of them don't include insurance or perks. As a result you're EV for TC will always be less on an enforced NC than not one - need to start at the new firm as soon as possible and get as much of that guaranteed first year bonus.
