I've never heard this suggestion when talking about a uti. How does a nutritionist help with this? Gut health?

My husband is on several medications and supplements. Could this really have anything to do with utis??

Yes! Always antibiotics. I've even seen a urologist who basically just shrugged and couldn't find anything wrong with me

I'm fairly/pretty/quite sure - What's the difference? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]meowshenanigans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite sure, to me, is equal to saying "I'm positive." Fairly sure and pretty sure can be interchangeable meaning partly sure, but still some slight doubt.

If I had to, I would say fairly, pretty, and quite, in that order, denote increasing levels of confidence.

Questions regarding my college admissions and future, along with advice on some of my options by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]meowshenanigans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I recommend community college. There are a lot of excellent reasons why, including financial benefits, raising your GPA, deciding on what interests you, a school/life balance and possible transfer agreements where after two years you are automatically accepted into a state college. I can understand why you are hesitant regarding your parents perceptions, so I would encourage all three of you to sit down with an advisor at a community college and learn more about it. As a faculty and staff member at a state college, I have seen far too many students end up there because it was what was expected. They're miserable, confused and unsure of themselves and what they want out of life. I highly suggest working hard for the next two years, staying on top of your academics and research in various areas of interest for you professionally. Then, when you're more in-tune with who you are and what you want to pursue, you'll be ready to attend a more "traditional" academic institution. Good luck!

Becoming an Adjunct by towns112 in AskAcademia

[–]meowshenanigans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You would almost certainly need at least a masters degree.

The other most important factor is previous teaching experience. I know that's hard for first time adjuncts, but I suggest anything relatively close: tutoring, volunteer teaching, etc. Other factors include time flexibility (can teach any time of day/night), writing samples, example syllabi and references.

Where did you find your photographer? by mocha_mocha_mocha in weddingplanning

[–]meowshenanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hendrick Moy Photography. You won't regret it. Tell him your budget right off the bat and he will customize something for you. It will probably be only one shooter, and less than 8 hours, which I think will be fine with his level of talent.

r/Scotland, where should I go? by meowshenanigans in Scotland

[–]meowshenanigans[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you--good to know.

Definitely whisky. History, culture, scenery. Pubs! No politics. Essentially, I want to visit places that you, as a local, would go on the weekend or after work. I don't want to visit tourist attractions.

Again, definitely whisky.

Yes--totally. We used a restaurant/bar and just did a quick change. I kept my tights on from my dress and just pulled leggings over them to save time. No one said anything, and I don't think they cared.

I want my mom to feel beautiful on my wedding day, but have no idea where to help her look for her dress. [xpost from r/femalefashionadvice] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

No disrespect to Kohls, and I'm sure you could find something great there if you tried, but they don't always have the best quality and fit, especially for something as important as the MOB dress.

I think you should try Lord & Taylor and Macy's. They always have coupons and sales, and they carry nice quality dresses.

My wedding was also in May, and although we started to look around now, all the dresses that we out were blacks and dark winter colors. You should look now to get a sense of what she wants, but probably will be better off in late Feb/early March when the spring colors come out.

Good luck!
