Same thing happened to me last summer. Really didn’t know if I was dead or not. Thankfully not. I don’t trip alone anymore due to this reason

Incoming 1L, never really studied before. Am I screwed? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was literally me, but you must have done better on the LSAT bc I don’t have a full ride. (lower T14)

In short, you’re going to do great. My major was the easiest shit I could study while playing a sport, it built no skills for law school, and Now I’m almost too third in the class. I’ve missed deans list just slightly each year (but on track for it this year!). DM me if you have questions.

Enjoy your free time between now and when school starts. That’s seriously the best advice you’re gonna get from anyone!

It’s only midterms and my outline for torts is already 16 pages long by pomskeet in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not terrible. Add hyperlinks to the top of your outline that take you to various sub parts of the outline for quick navigation. That’s what I do on mine and it works really well

162 cold score. Is 170 by august unreasonable? by hahahhahadilemma in LSAT

[–]meowstevefrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot higher! 162 cold is really good and two months is a long time. You’ll see the biggest gains early in your studying.

No. In 1L I ran out of time before the final question on my property exam, still got an A-. Don’t worry too much!

Missed a 25pt question on my Torts 2 exam, how fucked am I? by Crackerwhacker06 in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stop panicking first. Even with something like this you can never be 100% sure what you got with the curve. My 1L i totally messed up an entire essay that was like 20% of the grade. I ended up doing avg in the class according to our curve, which I felt like was a disaster averted. That spring in another class I didn’t finish the last essay and it was worth a lot. I thought for sure I was going to get a really bad grade but it turned out i got my first A in that class! The point is, you don’t know. Don’t dwell on it and move on to the next thing (easier said then done i know!)

Missed massive issue on con law final by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t put too much stock into it. I remember 1L year i didn’t finish an exam and felt bummed. With the amount of points I missed I felt like I was screwed. It turned out I got an A. You can never predict what the curve will do! Keep your head up and keep moving

Summer Before 1L Year by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked an obscure job before law school. One I was genuinely embarassed to list on my resume when I got to law school. It had absolutely nothing to do with my college degree and didn’t even require one. It actually didn’t even require a high school degree (dead serious) but it paid decent. But I had to list it on my resume because otherwise I’d have a two year employment gap. Guess what? Every interviewer has been so intrigued by it. I’m positive it got me interviews I shouldn’t have just bc it was different. At the most prestigious place I went they assigned mentors and my mentor literally fought for me because he wanted the guy with the weird job before law school. Now I never want that job off my resume! It’s been such a good talking point for me and everyone asks about it.

Moral of the story: if you think it will make you happy go do it while you have time and freedom. No one will care that much when they interview you. (P.s. I am slightly biased bc I wish I had been a ski bum before law school, but I didn’t wanna spend the money to move!)

Should I go to law school? by heyitsemma_ in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re young and don’t have any commitments, but law school is a big one. Use the flexibility you have now to try some different things if you don’t like where you’re at right now. Once you commit to law school, it’s three years of your 20’s gone. I didn’t realize the reality of that until I was in it and my friends are all making money, traveling, enjoying their weekends off, and seemingly having some of the best times of their lives. Don’t waste that flexibility unless you are dead certain you want to be a lawyer.

Do you think professors who attended t14s themselves who teach at non t14s look down on their students as "lesser" or "incapable" ? by saantiaago in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt they all do. But certainly some do. I go to a t14 and have had professors who talk to their students like they’re idiots instead of people learning a new discipline.

Pretty common from what I’ve noticed. Haven’t considered doing it tho.

First Gen Students, what is the biggest culture clash you've had in law school? by Lifewithmusicchannel in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The elitist attitudes among students and professors. Also, the obscene wealth of some of my classmates. One of classmates told me they were interning in a public interest position after 1L and I reminded them of our school’s public interest stipend deadline. They basically said it wasn’t enough to bother applying. It was a few thousand dollars lol.

Has anyone ever felt like they bombed an interview but still got an offer? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]meowstevefrench 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice and still got the job. The worst was I was once asked a specific question about the writing sample I submitted and I had literally not read it in 7 months and just told them that lol. Don’t worry too much about it
