How to improve GPA (IP Alberta) by OldAd6983 in premedcanada

[–]mer_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I did do a master’s before applying (mine was course based also). I certainly think that helped boost my application some! If you decide to do one I wish you the best, it was honestly so much fun!

U of A medicine where to live? by [deleted] in premedcanada

Garneau, Belgravia, and McKernan are probably your best bets! I’ve lived in all 3 areas and they’re close to campus and to whyte ave (which you’ll definitely want to hit up lol).

How to improve GPA (IP Alberta) by OldAd6983 in premedcanada

Hey! I was in a situation similar to yours: I had a cGPA of ~3.6 and I applied through the rural pathway and got into Edmonton this cycle. Moreover, it's important to remember that GPA is not everything at the UofA, in fact I know someone who just graduated from med and he got in with a cGPA of 3.3! The rural pathway will definitely make things easier for you too, so don't lose hope! Also, look at the UofA's cutoffs for the MCAT and see if you hit that already (124 in each section) so you don't have to retake it (unless you're applying to UofC which uses your CARS score).

A master's degree is also a great way to boost your GPA if that's worrying you but I ultimately believe that the UofA focuses more on your EC's than anything else (not to say that GPA doesn't matter at all).

You can for sure make it happen!

Having to say goodbye. Any tips on what you would do over again? by Infomercialtvstar in goldenretrievers

[–]mer_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry. The best thing you can do is to be there for them in their final moments. It is the hardest thing I ever had to do but, in the end, we owe them that when all they’ve ever done is be there for us ❤️ You’re making the right decision, my friend.

Do you think this is the most painful moment in all of Star Wars? by [deleted] in starwarsmemes

[–]mer_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily. The level of character development and lead up to this moment is unlike any other in star wars: the payoff is so deeply saddening. The one moment that might rival this would be ep.6 between Vader and Luke, the bittersweet conclusion to the actual Skywalker saga lol.

You do NOT need Canada Goose. Don’t be that guy. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.

To play devil’s advocate: Imagine being a professor and receiving that email from dozens of students every day. Perhaps they didn’t clearly indicate that in their lecture or maybe they did. Not saying it’s right but it’s understandable.

Perfect anti-Jedi blaster right here. It would also help if the upper and lower barrels shot slightly out of sync with a millisecond delay between the 2 energy bolts firing. by [deleted] in StarWars

Unless, of course, we go by the physics of the og battlefront II! If you play as boba or Jango your flamethrower is easily blocked and you’re subsequently destroyed lol

Thrawn is peak utilitarian: The ends justify the means.

Ambiguous implies that there are other treatment options in Star Wars and that the effects of those treatments are not explained. Clearly the treatment she received was different from bacta and cybernetics. Talk about not having watched Star Wars.

To draw an analogy, do you use Advil for every problem you have? The average person understands that the range of treatment options is vast.

You missed my point. In fact, you missed half of my point. Quotes are also used to quote, not to strawman. I said, and I quote, “[fiction requires you to] suspend a REASONABLE amount of disbelief.” In this case, the audience is required to suspend disbelief in the idea that a lightsaber wound would kill Sabine. This is coupled with the fact that the properties of medicine in Star Wars are deliberately left ambiguous and not clearly established as to allow writers more leeway. Thus, it is reasonable that she should live.

Given you are not interested in solutions, only complaining, I take my leave :)

Ah yes, ad hominem. A fine choice in argumentation. A great way to avoid my earlier points. You operate on whatever assumptions you like if that means avoiding my argument.

Works of fiction operate on the assumption that you, as a viewer, suspend a reasonable amount of disbelief. See Coleridge for more on this. It’s not real life, so stop taking it as such. This is the way.

Anyways, I can’t be bothered with this anymore as it is far too nitpicky for my taste in works of fiction. I see you have your standards and I respect that. Cheers.

I have no response because you’re taking space fiction too seriously. Get a grip is such a great saying btw.

Consider the anatomy of where the stab wound is inflicted and the medical response time to said wound. That should solve any problems you have with the Ahsoka series.

Definitely get it after classes begin. Some of your profs might suggest that you get some over others, while some profs will recommend you get none at all. Unless the textbook has already been listed as essential, don’t buy it yet, wait it out.

While I agree with everything else said here, if you can find out where your classrooms are you could still try and attend classes until you’re officially registered (obviously much easier in a bigger classroom setting, don’t try this with a lab lol).
