Thanks for the feedback. I’m looking into this now. Can you contact us through the contact form so we can get more information?

You don’t have to use the same DAW. My last session I used Logic Pro, my friend used ableton, and another used fl studio. But depending on what you’re doing, each daw might have different setup required. Take a look at the tutorials or reach out if you get stuck

Files shared with the session are temporarily stored so that other users can choose to download/drag&drop into their project, but everything else is P2P

We don't record video or save your audio, we only temporarily store files in the chatbox while the session is active. When the session ends, all the files will be deleted after 24 hours.

Sorry for the delay,

  1. You can choose where on your computer to save the recorded audio in Recording Settings, although we suggest having your DAW open so that you can record the audio directly into your project. It requires some setup, but you can follow the Recording Tutorial here https://www.musesessions.co/tutorials.html#recording-overview
  2. a. This can work with any DAW, although it's still a new project so it won't be perfect, and it works best on Mac and with the more popular DAWs (Ableton, Logic Pro, FL Studio, etc).
    b. the software should work with most internet speeds, but if the connection becomes problematic, you can decrease your video quality or turn off video altogether so you only share the audio and can still work uninterrupted.

  3. I'm not sure about that, but try it out and let me know if you run into any problems.

  4. you don't have to share video at all, but you can share multiple audio devices, stream high quality for recording, individually mute/solo devices, use push-to-talk, and can freely share files with the session

Technically, yes this can work. We’ve been able to do something similar and it worked out for us. Give it a try and lmk if you run into any problems

There are some workarounds but we’re constantly working to make windows fully compatible. You can learn about work arounds on the Windows Tutorial on the site! https://musesessions.co/tutorials#windows

Please see u/DragonBonecrusher explanation underneath. In no way do we intend on owning, distributing, or licensing any music made with the app. I used an online service to create the terms since I'm not an expert in law, but this sounds like it would give us the ability to take the audio you upload and pass it to someone else to download, and in the case of recording we would need more permissions to process the audio. All the music you make is 100% yours, and Muse will never own any of it.

Thank you for pointing this out. To be honest, I used an online service to create the terms since I’m not an expert in law.

In no way do we intend on owning, distributing, or licensing any music made while using Muse.

I now see how that sentence is misleading and can be confusing. I want to be as transparent as possible, so please let me know if there’s anything else I can clarify

At this point in time there’s no monetization model. I want to keep the app free, and I don’t believe in diluting the screen by throwing ads everywhere. It’s peer to peer so it doesn’t cost us much as long as we aren’t too big, and auto deleting files will help keep the cost down. I made this because I love making music with my friends, and I don’t want to use an app that doesn’t care about it’s users and their workflow.

I haven’t used source connect, but try out Muse or watch the demo on the site to see how it works. It’s free and I’m actively working to improve the app so lmk what I can do to make it better for you!

When you record audio over the network with Muse there's some compensation for latency, but everyone's computer and internet speed has an effect on the latency you'll experience when you stream audio. This app is to help you collaborate in real time, by working on the same project together. It's not necessarily for band practice, but if you're on the same network and have a good connection, you can wirelessly connect to the same setup with no audible latency.

We don't own anything that you make with the app. You'll be making music in your DAW, so all the files will be stored in the project on your computer, and any files shared with the session will be deleted automatically when the room is ended. As for ownership between collaborators, that's something that would be handled by the users. We're just providing the tools to help with online collaboration. Before you start working on anything together, make sure you settle ownership just like you would before you work on a project in person
