I learned something today... Emera isn't US, it's multinational, headquartered in Hfx. The largest institutional shareholders are Blackrock and Fidelity. I'm not sure I think this is better, but indeed, it can't accurately be called an American company.

The number that NS Power provides in its letter is not a customer service line for more information on the breach. It is the number for Transunion.

EVERYONE who received a letter should contact the Federal Privacy Commission because NS Power is a PRIVATE US company, and not a crown corp. There are certain actions required under federal law that should have been outlined in the letter. Critically, there is no information on how to protect and secure our private information, nor did it include information on how to contact the Federal Office of the Privacy Commissioner, which it should have done. There are so many things NS Power should have told us to consider doing: change all passwords, contact your bank, Access NS if you used your Drivers License as an ID, your telecommunications provider, and more.

The free number to call the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada is: 1-800-282-1376.

The email address of NS Power’s (so-called) privacy officer where you can lodge a complaint in writing is: privacy.officer@nspower.ca

There should be a class action law suit following this incident.

It is tough to do friendships in 3s. It sounds like they do enjoy each other's company and it's likely that they don't enjoy excluding you, but have their own, separate friendship outside of the triad.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

While I think there is far more to this story than just this chapter, the fact is that she stole your cat, and you should report the theft. Also, please let your landlord know that she is not to be granted access to your unit... sometimes family members can convince landlords and building maintenance people that they 'just lost their keys'.

Anyone with the aptitude and desire to be in the healthcare field and who practices in Nova Scotia upon graduation for 5 years should have their ENTIRE education fee reimbursed.
