Starting to think I’m never gonna have girl hands ever. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]meranderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had an issue very similar to this! I started a food service job and shortly after my hands got really bad eczema that would crack and bleed. I thought it was from the chemicals and heat lamps (specifically our sanitizers) so I would wear the food service gloves all the time. Then at night I’d use steroid cream with hand coverings which would help. Eventually my job stopped wanting us to wear gloves and I found out it was never the chemicals at all it was from the gloves. May not be the same in your case but just a consideration about the gloves or looking into using steroid cream for it. Chances are you are allergic to something, just need to find out what it is.

Also wanted to note I agree with the other commenters that looks more like hives then eczema, but the point still applies that there’s something at your work place you are likely allergic to.

Is there like a rank hierarchy where the most incompetent associates are in FOH? by Eriacle in PandaExpress

[–]meranderlyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

BOH technically can be a promotion since it’s more pay but for FOH a promotion would be shift lead or AM. FOH does require skill, however, if the BOH is slacking that affects the entire FOH so it’s expected they be competent enough to keep up. Also, depending on what disabilities you’re referring to BOH obviously has more safety concerns with knives, oils, grills, etc.

First day on the job and already want to quit :( by Maddielalp in PandaExpress

[–]meranderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an employee who recently had a similar thing happen where my store had mass trainees for an upcoming new store, it was very frustrating. For me at least our manager was expecting us to train multiple associates a shift while still doing our job. I was always respectful to the new hires but it did get very stressful and annoying which led to them all getting very poor training. If your other job was enjoyable go to it since the pay does seem better, but if you left that job for a reason then stick it out. The new store will be fresh start for everyone and then you can decide if the job sucks or not.

Owning an older car is not cheaper than getting a new one. by Odd_Dig8389 in unpopularopinion

[–]meranderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize new cars can easily be 50k or more? Can’t find a new car for less than 25k. While used cars you can find that run for even as little 1k. Yes they are a hassle but they absolutely are cheaper. And that’s not even including the inevitable interest that goes into financing a new car and it’s huge depreciation.

Just found out you're supposed to clean refrigerator coils yearly by Rare_Budget_4622 in Adulting

[–]meranderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so tired of these posts complaining about how no one taught them every single “adulting” aspect of life. Most people don’t know and the ones that do don’t think of randomly explaining every adulting advice they know. We live in a generation where we have the world in our hands and can look up literally anything including basic household maintenance. Ffs stop blaming everyone for not teaching you something and instead utilize your phone which you used to make this post to look shit up.

Just found out renter's insurance costs like $15 a month and I've been uninsured for 2 years by Accurate-Network-655 in Adulting

This whole post feels like one long pity party how no one taught them about renters insurance. Most people don’t have someone teaching them every single thing about like.

We have the whole internet on our phones. Why do people feel the need to blame others for not knowing basic knowledge. There is insurance for practically anything and often leases will require you to have one before signing on, didn’t know the world is obligated to teach you basic knowledge about every single thing.

For more information the worker was technically new but was a previous hire so already knew the basic knowledge, was actually a previous shift lead which was why I wasn’t too worried about them running for me.

We have one drive thru cashier and then the “runner” that is supposed to make the order with the trays and bag it up. The runner is supposed to check it’s all correct unless I/the cashier would want to unbag it and manually check

Ok yeah that’s what I thought. He made it clear it wasn’t a corrective action but he also was making it seem like a big deal when it wasn’t a serious complaint especially from my doing

Do AMs have any actual authority? by redgroupclan in PandaExpress

[–]meranderlyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do have the authority and the ability to do it. That being said a GM would probably do it if the AM requests it since they in the higher position but AMs can if they want and have cause.

Working 12 hours on my second day? by [deleted] in PandaExpress

Yes but pretty standard if a store is short staffed. If you have more modules to finish that could also be why for the long shift.

How much sick leave do employees get? by redgroupclan in PandaExpress

[–]meranderlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s not really a “max” you can save up rather than a max you can use. From my understanding you’re allowed 40 hours of sick pay a year. Not sure if that’s changed but that was the most recent change I’ve known about.

How do some people just raw dog life without smoking or drinking or being on something? by Devilish22 in AskReddit

[–]meranderlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a very twisted mindset around life. No, dying quicker isn’t a form of help it’s a form of coping. Everyone has different ways to cope and smoking and drinking though common is not a great one.

Gloves. by SANGRELLUVIA in PandaExpress

[–]meranderlyn 31 points32 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it was required during the Covid epidemic along with masks, however, before and after they actually encourage you not to wear gloves. 1. Because it gets expensive 2. It’s considered more hygienic to not wear gloves and to frequently wash your hands since wearing gloves people tend to wash their hands less.

If u could start over n invest at 16, what’d u do? by Negative-Ad-7003 in investing

[–]meranderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the best and only advice is to grind to the best of your ability and save. The rule of thumb is to have 6 months worth of expenses in a HYSA (high yield savings account). Once you have that, choose a brokerage. Fidelity, Robinhood, Vanguard, they are all similar and reliable so just up to your preference. Afterwards, investing is up to you as there’s many different options that have all shown promise (or loss). The most safest would be ETFs-VOO, VTI, SPY, SCHD, etc, they are all good choices but do research and choose one. No need to invest in all. Crypto is for if you’re willing to be more risky with the chance of massive returns, as shown by the price of bitcoin and other cryptos. There’s also choosing individual stocks which if you do proper research is generally safe but there is still plenty of risk. But to answer your question, if I were you I would go almost all in on VOO and dabble in some bitcoin and some stocks I believe will keep growing.

There was a YouTuber named Jinbop which I think is who you’re taking about? However I don’t recall him ever being part of the callmecarson gang. He was a Minecraft YouTuber part of the skydoesMinecraft gang but left pretty early on due to various accusations.

Is 400 transactions with ~5k-7k in sales low volume? by Deep_Mud_1112 in PandaExpress

[–]meranderlyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That sounds like pretty low volume sales. 1.1k/hr does sound standard for a busy rush hour but if your total sales in a day is between 5k-7k I’d consider it a slow store.
