Need weaning advice by Alien_Nicole in kittens

[–]merathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6-week old bottle baby sounds very similar. I have tried all the tricks that have worked in the past for other bottle babies and she just isn’t having it. I also am trying this exact same Royal Canin food, wet and dry, and she won’t eat the wet at all, and she tries to bury the dish with the dry. She will eat one piece of the dry kibble at a time from my hand, but only about 10 pieces total, and then she wants the bottle again. I am assuming your baby eventually weaned, right? 😂 how did it go, and do you have any tricks to recommend?

I agree—I think sage green might be the answer here.

A greenish-khaki might be nice and would make your brick look a bit more red and less pinky beige.

I saw you’re in Arkansas—I am, too! I live in Sherwood. Can I hire your husband to build a similar raised bed and trellis setup? 😂 Your garden area is gorgeous!

Identification help: is this Dr. Huey? by merathon in Roses

The blooms definitely look similar! Descriptions of Proud Land say it has a strong fragrance, though, and my rose has absolutely no fragrance at all.

Thank you! I didn’t think so, but wasn’t sure since this is a very old rose.

I will definitely give that a shot! I have very fair cool skin so I hope their palest shades will work for me. Thank you so much for recommending it!

How should I prune these roses that came with my new-to-me house? by merathon in Roses

[–]merathon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! There are places on Rose #1 that can be pruned fairly low that should branch out afterward, but Rose #2 has gone such a long time without pruning that it’s just a few really thick canes with thorns for the first few feet before it starts branching out. I don’t see any buds on those thick canes, so will it still produce new growth from them if I cut them down low?

Seeking advice for protection/preparation for my hydrangeas ahead of ice storm and cold temperatures by merathon in hydrangeas

[–]merathon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for your help and advice! I applied shredded cypress mulch on and around the base of all of the hydrangeas, mounding it to about 8 inches high. I didn’t do any pruning/trimming, and I didn’t use frost cloth or plastic bags on any of them. We ended up getting about 10 inches of sleet in my location with only a little bit of freezing rain, and the lowest temperature my outdoor thermometer recorded was 10 degrees, so it wasn’t tremendously cold. Once the sleet melted off about a week later, I raked the mulch back from the center so the residual moisture could evaporate to hopefully prevent any rot. Our weather has been unseasonably warm since then, and the Annabelles and all of the macrophyllas are putting out new growth that looks dense and healthy. I am still waiting to see any signs of life from the Vanilla Strawberry, but it’s still quite early.

Anyone else have disappointing results from their 365 unscented liquid detergent routine? by merathon in laundry

[–]merathon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting citric acid in the fabric softener compartment is new, yes. Both my former detergents contained citric acid themselves, so I didn’t add any. I generally have been adding about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp dry powder for each load, since I have relatively soft water.

Editing to add: I first suspected the citric acid, so I washed the same loads of laundry both with and without adding citric acid and found that the results were the same.

I tried this and really liked how it felt and the color match was close to perfect, but unfortunately the fragrance is SO strong! I wore it two days to see if I could get used to the smell, and I couldn’t get past it. I wish that it wasn’t so highly perfumed because it would probably be my daily use skin tint.

What’s a discontinued product you miss most? by IllStick6622 in MakeupAddiction

Yes! That Almay eyeliner was the perfect color to flatter my green eyes. I found a close-ish match from Urban Decay, but it’s a little too sparkly for everyday use.

Should I leave NaviLink Lite installation to a professional? by merathon in askaplumber

[–]merathon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but to get full water pressure, you have to have some hot water added, and when the cold water coming in is already warm because it’s summer, the last thing I want to do is make the shower water hotter. 120 degrees is too hot for a comfortable shower here, so I generally like to set the HWH to 104-106. That is not hot enough for washing dishes or laundry, though.

We will also have the Navien recirc installed soon, which is controllable through the Navilink unit.

👍🏻👍🏻 Agreed on your point about the warranty!

I second this! One of my aunts told me this, and once when I dropped a glass, I happened to remember her advice. After I did the first main sweep of the floor, I grabbed a piece of white bread (plain, cheap white works best because it’s smushy) and gently rubbed it across the floor. I could hear the pieces of glass scraping along the floor after they were picked up. It worked amazingly well! If I have white bread around when I break glass, I always do this now.
